I was Dirk the Daring, back in '83 or so. Home-made costume, with shiny fabric "mail" coif and sleeves. I still have it.

@JadeCurtiss I only cosplayed a Persona character once, and that was Yosuke Hanamura from Persona 4, orange glasses and short swords and all. However, the video game character I have cosplayed the most is easily Jack from Harvest Moon. That's right, I cosplayed as a farmer. Haters gonna hate.

Oh I love Harvest Moon! It's so weird to think of his name as Jack, I'm so used to thinking of him as the farmer you play as and name yourself.

I put cosplayers in the same boat as furries. In a perfect world I would then push that boat out to see and set it on fire.

Set the boat on fire, or set the sea on fire?

I'm with your there. Minus the setting on fire part. :) Though this sums it up qutie nicely: http://encyclopediadramatica.ch/Cosplay
I really don't get why the 10% of hot chicks in costumes justify the 90% of embarrassing attention whores (males included) doing cosplay.

In my original statement I meant the boat, but setting turning the sea in a blaze the likes of which has only be written about in (the worst parts of the...) bible sounds like a whole heap of awesome.

@LeChatNoir yeah sounds like a good idea... how about we put all people who think differently than you on that boat as well... oh while we're at it maybe all people who look differently or believe in something else?

ignorance and narrow-mindedness are the harbinger of racism... think about that next time before you spit out your BS

Just so we're all on the same page: you are criticizing him for having an opinion that's different than yours. You also happen to be comparing disliking people who dress up like video game characters to disliking people because of their race. Nice.

It maybe a different opnion, but it's a stupid and ignorant one. Just saying.

@nomoredroids there is a big difference between critizizing someones opinion and suggesting that a certain group of people should be burned at sea...

and i never said it's "like" racism, i said intolerance !leads! to racism...

but hey... hating a group of people for their pastime to the point of suggesting they might be better off being put to death is obviously totally legitimate and normal, right? ;)

I do not have the talent nor the desire to put in the effort to make a costume. There are some great cosplay costumes out there that must have taken a lot of work to make. Considering how if I ever wanted to dress up, I'd want it to be of high quality, and I'm sure that'd be expensive and out of my price range. Props to those that have good times cosplaying.

No way. BUT, that doesn't mean I think it's silly or anything...it's all in good fun. I have thought about how cool it would be to go to the world's largest LARPer fest (in Germany iirc) and act as an NPC trader type. Maybe sell the players potions and stuff...I always dig people using their imaginations, as long as they're having fun.

Hell, beats dressing up in a monkey suit to go to an office every day. lol
