I pre-ordered the $150 CE immediately which is unusual for me, cause I normally just get the regular edition. I suppose I've done this cause the last 1/2 dozen MMOs havn't been that great and I didn't want to invest a great deal of money in them.

One of the main draws for me though is that you get an Authenticator with the CE also, and while I'm sure those things will prolly sell for $6-$10 not long before or after launch, I want one immediately damnit! Dunno what it is lately, but I've had a lot of trouble with my MMO accounts being hacked, and I keep AVG running 24/7 and scan my PC weekly for anything harmful, yet I never find anything.

Take Rift for instance, last week they had the free week for past subscribers, during that 7 days my account was hacked and coin-locked 5 times...I don't get it, and Trion refuses to to make an authenticator besides the digital one that not all have access too. Anyway, the few MMOs that do have an Authenticator for, I've never had trouble with.

I don't really care about the statue, and may sell it to recoup some of the cost, but I like everything else.

And overall, I'm really dying inside for some good ole Sci-Fi/High Fantasy, I think I'm losing interest in pure fantasy, and the last great time I had with such was KOTOR, so purchasing a title thats basically as large as 24 KOTORs has sold me, and the price is more than reasonable!

@Ren54

My email was never hacked, google would have let me know, and besides my email has nothing to do with my Rift account other than being the name of the account. Passwords are very different and I don't keep that info stored in my gmail account.

So yeah it must be Trion being hacked somehow, cause I'd more than likely be alerted on my end if it was my problem...

I forgot about the authenticator. I feel better about the purchase already. I also had that coin freeze on my Rift game when I went to play yesterday so looking forward to anything to add security.

No, but they sure are lazy as all hell when it comes to actually helping users protect themselves. Why that game still doesn't have a physical Authenticator is beyond me. Why any AAA MMO would launch without an Authenticator is also beyond me.

This is a large part of why I don't give Trion nearly as much credit as other people and why I don't play RIFT (aside from its total lack of anything innovative or appealing).

@Ren54 It can be their fault by not providing enough protection.

No, but I do expect a modern game developer to include modern security measures when they launch a highly publicized, highly anticipated game.

Its common sense. Are you telling me no one at Trion has any common sense? From what I've seen, I'd probably believe that.

That date is taken from a faq that states that the code expires at that date. nothing else.

I real guess to release of the game should be around late spring 2012. I would like to see AAA MMO just give the client away for free but with a cost of buying 2-3 months of gametime in advance.

@(Unverified) Don't forget about in-store sales, not everyone follows the digital news closely, and despite the growing presence of digital sales, pretty sure they still like their retail space for even more advertising.

I'm not a fan of cash shops or paying for digital in-game items so Regular digital edition is enough for me.

I think it would show immense faith in their game to have a sw:tor trial at launch. Having said that, Rift practically had a trial, (open beta free for all) SW:TOR apparently isn't having one of those...

I've been following SWTOR since 2009 and have been MMO-less since before that. I feel I have alot of time and faith invested in this game. Buying the CE just seemed right for me.

...yeah, I got it. No ad hominems.

And thanks to you, Shawn and the regulars for taking the time to explain that to me. :)

I signed up for this game on 10/22/08, the day the forums went live and I have been following it ever since. My hype is at an all-time high, I pre-ordered 2 CE's, one from Amazon and one from Gamestop. The authenticator and the CE exclusive vendor shop, among other things, made it an easy decision.

Star Wars + Bioware = two of my favorite things, I just hope EA's kiss-of-death doesn't infiltrate this game, but something tells me that their greed will cause some major issues, one of which is the sub, which I am going to predict will be $19.95 a month.
