While I have a lot of doubts and misstrusts, I shall buy this game. This shall not be a day 1 buy though, I want ppl to get the roaps of things by the time I join because I want to avoid all frustration.

I will buy this game not because it's a bioware game (they have already disappointed me with the many bad decisions they have made - wow clone /cough) but because it is a star wars game. I liked the first theree movies (old ones) but not because of Lucas (effin pointless ewoks) but because of the world, ships, characters, story, jedi(!).

I not only have hope that the story is going to be good, the story will be EPIC, I have no doubt of that. This shall not be the first game I play for the story while maybe hating certain aspects of the game / gameplay but I also have little doubt I shall play much beyond the story. (no raids or pvp for me).

Will the game be a surprise and be SO GOOD it will convince me to stick after I finish the story with one character to stick and play I might even just do that (doubt it) or maybe the story is SO different from class to class I might want to stay just for that.

My hopes lie with another game though, and that game is ofc GUILD WARS 2. I am a fanboy, I am intoxicated with what this game is prepared to offer, the way they give out information, and the fact that whoever plays the game says is EPIC.

TL;DR Might play Star Wars TOR because it's Star Wars, won't like gameply but will love the sotry. Guild Wars 2 will be better, that is it.

@Kalec At least the GW2 gameplay trailers I've seen actually demonstrate the flow of gameplay. This 'gameplay' trailer is just a series of fast cuts and placards.

@Borick They use a lot of fast cuts in all their stuff. It's a great way to hide things. (most egregious use was in their "space combat" trailer which almost makes it look like it's an actual flying game)

A limited launch is a very good idea. Never outsell your capability to support customers.

@Alluvian EstEndrati Are they limiting the release due to support limitations? I would call this 'generating artificial demand'.

The first is a technical decision made out of respect for the player. The second is a marketing shell game that micturates on the consumer.

@Greyjoy As much as I look forward to playing it (preordered and all) and as much as I love Star Wars and have oodles of respect for BioWare, I seriously doubt that.

If you mean in a similar way to how Duke Nukem Forever did, maybe...

No, WoW did that.

And this is WoW with lightsabers. And crappier art direction.

@Borick Dood a broken beer bottle with a Wookie etched into it sounds cool. Something like that could be a good decor piece. That kind of piece cries out about the broken state of social interaction and draws attention to the lingering malignant effects that slavery has in America even today. Brilliant!

@LuxAurumque When you put it that way, it almost makes me reconsider my position.

@einstini15

Considering they singlehandedly ruined a genre, I wouldn't be pointing to them as prime examples...

@Valkesh Yeah, you're right. It would've been better if the genre never left it's infancy.

@Valkesh Another one is Arenanet. Or do some people actually count Guild Wars as an MMO? Arenanet themselves don't, apparently.
