Only having 4 or 5 races in the Star Wars universe is just sad and lazy...

@WhatDeficit

Each class is restricted to a selection of four because of the resources required to make all the armor/assets work with each race.

But, including non-player races, there are dozens of races in the game. Many more than SWG ever had.

@bobfish Poor excuse when the majority of races are traditional humanoids and there are only 4 body types available.

There is no good way to spin that.

@Space Cobra From my experience this isn't true. I'm not sure I see the fun in having to level up a character just to unlock a race if this is indeed planned.

Ohh the graphics look amazing don't they.

People forget that Age of Conan is OVER 3 years old (i know the game isn't great so don't try it) and still games like this have graphics from 2006/2007.

And Age Of Conan runs on my netbook with the new engine upgrade, will this?

About 3 voice actors actually had some character to their sound, the rest sounded like they were bored.

Money well spent EA?

I want to be excited for this game because the MMO genre has nothing else to offer us, really this is it's last chance or I cannot see anything toppling WoW in the next 4 years. However I just don't think it looks like Star Wars, it looks like the new shitty Star Wars that I don't want to admit exists lol. Star Wars Galaxies had that amazing moment at E3 2002 where it showed a demo off and it looked like the original trilogy. That got me so excited, this game however looks like WoW mixed with the clone wars and I hate that.

Not only that but I find Biowares writing to be cliche and cheesy, I just don't want their story in an MMO. The characters look plastic, the combat looks all stiff and slow and the world is going to be so instanced and zoned. The worst things of all for me is Space is linear and more like a mini game and there will be next to no death penalty, voiding and risk in the game.

@Miffy Don't take this the wrong way, but do you even enjoy playing MMOs? Because all you do here is piss and moan about this and that. You come across as though you thoroughly dislike MMOs.

@Lenn What is to like about the current generation? We've been playing this same stuff for twelve years now. It is time for something new and emergent.

The reason for the 'insult' factor is the scale of the operation. If it was just a chump-change knockoff there'd be little offense, but using the limited resources available to our genre on... more of the same fluff? That's insulting.

@Miffy Why does anything at this point have to "topple" WoW? Even the industry is starting to move past this idea. Not all, but many little Jedi that will be living in this upcoming game will not care to much about Azeroth or it's sparkly Team Edward ponies.

@Keeop With that said I do understand where you're coming from, although i'd disagree that I hopped into Galaxies in 03 because it "looked amazing" lol. Anywho. Cheers.

@Borick new and emergent? that's been done, and was not successful. if you mean geting rid of the holy trinity? every mmorpg that has done that ended up with a 'everyone just solo's everything' game and that is entirely contradictory to an MMorpg. have you not played eve? or age of conan? or even rifts' soul system?

@Dixa Massively Multiplayer doesn't have to mean 'sports like teamwork'.

I believe that a game can be massive and multiplayer without the treadmill, and that many folks desire the opportunity to meet others, not the requirement that they pony up for structured team play.

I'm not saying that there's no place for teamwork. I'm saying that it isn't the pinnacle of the playing experience for most people seeking to escape reality in a video game.

@Miffy @Miffy Sadly I feel your frustration, I to was hoping for this to live up to it's hype. The graphics and combat animations look dated and the characters look like Gi Joe action figures. Hell the only thing that moves on them is their cloaks. I'm guessing gameplay will be decent with Bioware in the mix not enough for me for my to jump on the band wagon.

@Dixa I've never been a fan of forced grouping. Grouping up should be because its fun. Being forced to lfg to anything sucks.

@(Unverified) Who was it that said Star Wars fans would buy a broken beer bottle if it had a wookie etched on it?
