I hope this is a fun game.

Like Left4dead but a larger world to freely explore.

Still have my doubts on this, both the "bluster" of the studio and will Microsoft allow them to do it. Or will this be a "free" Xbox MMO? Also have my doubts if this will be another Console MMO that doesn't have too much gameplay depth beyond shooting people and collecting gear.

@Space Cobra - Well, Microsoft is the publisher and therefore funding most if not all of the development. And Undead Labs seems to be extremely pleased with whatever agreements were worked out with Microsoft.

@Space Cobra

Honestly, my biggest doubt, and thus fear, would be Microsoft reneging on this MMO, like every single MMO they have ever "agreed" upon.

@HokieKC I'd pay attention to Microsoft. They may seem like a beaten company, but they're still awash in cash capital and just had their anti-trust yoke removed.

I don't know that they can pull off a major coup, but I can see that they're trying to leverage a new model of game design for MMOs. The current DIKU-derived stuff is tough to shoehorn into console and mobile form-factors.

Minecraft is a proof-of-concept for a next gen control system, and Microsoft was first to the punch on getting those dev tools out to the game designers (FortressCraft wasn't made to be sold to players, but to get the dev toolkit in place). Between Undead Labs and Notch, I have some hope for this tired, overleveraged genre.

@Borick

That's always been the problem with Microsoft, they have so much cash they have no problem dumping a project they invested millions and millions into when they suddenly get the urge to do other projects.

For once, I have no words other than love for these guys and what they're trying to accomplish.

Bring on the next gen, guys.

I would pay money for this on the PC, a sandbox game about zombie survival. Count %99 of the guys in online.

Don't understand why just console.
