FFA PvP is restricted to certain sections of the game world. It's easy to avoid if you wish.

@Malvious. Form my very limited knowledge of the game, I think it is more about crafting, trade/economy, exploration and politicising.

Last I read you can attack anyone anywhere. In the non pvp areas against same faction you get point and if you gather to many points you go to a jail.

Plus with it's planting system it will have the same issues that Xsyon

I guess it depends on how MUCH of the game is FFA PVP. A well-defined zone or two: great. But if it's a large enough chunk of the gameworld then I'll skip it.

Faction-based is one thing, FFA is another. Every man for himself isn't my bag.

The jury is still out whether FFA really means AHFA (Ass Hattery For All). Players maybe well behaved in Korea that this gaming environment that the FFA mechanic does not propose an issue others playing the game. But bring that title over to North America where players get more respect for griefing others (I am thinking of WoW as a fine exmple) and watch AHFA ensue... making it simply unplayable for many.

If this game ever does Westernize like with Tera...they they should either remove FFA mechanic all together or simply have PvE servers as an option. If they're planning to make it big that is.

@Arkanaloth Sigh, have to admit, I only play non-PVP servers. No matter how great ArchAge may be, I am NOT playing a server where some parts are fffa-pvp.

FFA AND a Sandbox? No effin' thanks. You'd be hard-pressed to come up with a more effective way to immediately reduce your potential customer base by such a margin.

But, to each their own, yadda yadda. I'm glad sandbox fans finally get a gorgeous game to play. Kudos.

@Apakal I can understand ppl have different wants. But I can't imagine this has any great success. I just don't see so many with ffa pvp tolerance AND sandbox in the West.

I've played a few Korean games in the past and without knowing any stats all I can say, from my experience, is there are just as many ass-hats in Korea as there are here. I haven't played the newer titles, but I expect the percentages are about the same. In those other titles, GMs/Devs don't really care too much about balance; in some ways, their attitude is similar to CCP's about it ("cavalier").

I suspect they will be tweaking and experimenting with this aspect in Beta for quite a bit. They have formed a partnership with another company (regarding another game), but they probably have some insight into American markets and if they don't, they soon will learn. I expect, at the least, some things will be changed for US release, not the least of which would be PvP/PvE dominated servers with different rulesets, but that is just me speculating.

@Danteeeee Never thought I'd consider this an improvement, but it might be better if he writes his thoughts in his native tongue and runs it through an Internet translator before posting.

I want to see more on quests. And will the game offer enough quest content that you could never touch the other parts of the game and still reach level cap (or whatever the equivalent is)? I like PvP and crafting and the like, but I like knowing the game has enough content for everyone, too.
