@real65rcncom "Well, WoW has cross-server and that's not due to population problems."

"Apparently the need is there now, which says theres something kinda wrong with the pops if it was single server now it's cross server after like a month."

sorry what?

Just because they make the most noise doesn't make them the majority. If the majority of people in fact did not want this then Trion would not be making this move. Its all about $$ and if the majority wants a system they will get it.. 1.4 should tell you what the true majority of people think.

Actually the x-server queues ARE for server population problems, and have masked WoW's slow decline for a long time. A large number of WoW servers -- anywhere from 20-40% -- have minimal populations with very little end game activity. It gets worse when you look at faction balance vs total server populations too. The LFD queue maintains an active end game for these virtually abandoned servers, even though WoW was at a point years ago when they could have consolidated dozens (if not the bottom hundred) realms.

Do some statistical diving at warcraftrealms.com for proof. Wow's total overall population still rivals the entire rest of the MMO industry combined, but that does not negate the fact that there are dead/abandoned realms, or that there has been a significant drop not just in subscribers but activity amongst active subscribers.

You say masks a sever decline issue, and I say it offers people more opportunities to see content the game has to offer. /shrug

What a Shame. The PvP is nice, but I was really hoping they'd stay true to their word and not go Cross Server. Another game ruined by the trappings of Modern MMO's /sigh

@Ren54

Well, i sure as hell won't do anything BUT guild runs now. I have no desire to pug with some douche-bags that can do whatever the hell they want without fear of consequences.

Bad call in my opinion, but as I don't play the game it doesn't effect me much. Really hurts the sense of community on servers and gives rise to the rampant ass-hattery seen in WoW PuGs.

I really miss games where your reputation mattered.

Strongly agree with you there. The benefits don't outweigh the costs.

@C Rose Agreed. X-server is just another thing to put down on what is getting to be a long list of deal breakers.

For people who don't like the fact that LFD will become cross-server -- well you can always build your group the old fashioned way. Many people still do that. Or you can expand your friends list or find a larger/more active guild or ally your guild with one or more others and so on. When my guild first started doing raid rifts, we allied with another guild and then we did.

In any case, Cross-Server LFD, all by itself, will not kill a community that doesn't want to die. You may as well claim that telephones kill neighborhoods and that the internet kills countries. There's certainly an impact, but it can only destroy that which people don't have the desire to maintain.

@Haldurson

People that don't want the system wont listen to reason. They have the choice to join q or not to. They just don't want you to have the choice. I think of the community only crowd is a bunch of control freaks that don't want to see people actually being able to participate in activities of their own choice.

well they are losing people in droves less and less wants their raid or die end game and they have zero answer for the thousands of non raiders that bought RIFT thinking it was going to be different.

@Dril your an idiot.Trion never promised anything other than to be a little like WoW. They wanted to take some of the WoW market and grab anyone else interested along the way. But hey haters going to hate flamers going to flame. And the old Drill will complain on every post on massively as per usual.
