"slated to be the industry's first full scale PvP-based **Fantasy** MMORPG "

Nooooo! Aaaaah!

Where be my spaceships or Modern in-game Ipad tinkering? Where be Martian Landscapes of John Carter or the "quiet placid setting" of a "Watership Down MMO"?!?!

Aaaaah! Where be the chase for original theme settings?!?!

@Space Cobra

And my so-so half-interest in it being Full-scale PvP aside (although I am up for it), this oddly looks like the reminiscent of Justin's just posted Warhammer Online game by Climax...

Coincidence?

@Space Cobra I think the key here is the Unity connection. That means browser, probably. I've been keeping an eye on this one, I think it will be interesting. Still, I hear ya....Watership Down scared the crud out of me when I was a kid. That would make for an awesome MMO.

Icarus = autowin, to me. Fallen Earth is fantastic, can't wait to see how they do with a bigger budget and Unity at their disposal.

Try logging in/out and refreshing. Also, try another browser (not promoting any browser, just sometimes that has helped).

There is also another way, but I forget.

More information from OnRPG.COM

Players must choose to play as one of eight character classes and choose a nation to which they will pledge their allegiance. Battle between the nations force players to defend their realm in a PvP packed MMORPG played out on land, at sea and in the air.

Hailan Rising removes the traditional ‘leveling’ system and replaces it with an FPS style system of advancement. Players must power up individual combat abilities while learning new abilities from other classes.

Main features of the title include:

- The Etherea System – Players can learn any ability from classes that are foreign to their own.

- No Item Limitations – Any player may equip themselves with any item or weapon, regardless of which of the eight classes they choose to play.

- Large-Scale PVP – Open World PVP between hundreds of players can take place at any moment.

“This is an MMORPG like no other we have seen in the market,” says Bjorn Book-Larsson, COO & CTO of GamersFirst and the head of GamersFirst studio subsidiary Reloaded Productions. “We have created a title that combines the best features from several MMO genres, added new technologies from Mixamo and Unity, at the same time we have worked to eliminate some of the most criticized components of MMORPGs to come up with what we believe is a great new game experience.”

“I have always dreamt of creating a game that can balance grinding with instant action, in a game system that preserves both long-term leveling while letting players enjoy instant balanced PvP combat at every turn,” says Adam ‘CaliMaestro’ Smith, Producer for Hailan Rising. “We hope that with Hailan Rising we have created something truly unique for the avid PvP and trading-focused MMO-RPG fan.”

"“This is an MMORPG like no other we have seen in the market,” says Bjorn Book-Larsson"

That's what they all say.

You'd think they'd realise from how few people PvP in Fallen Earth that making an open world PvP game isn't the brightest move in commercial terms. They're guaranteeing a very small niche market for the game. I'm surprised they aren't looking to broaden its appeal as much as possible given the crazy amount of competition among MMOs these days.

@Seffrid Broadening the appealing is probably a bad idea given the amount of competition. Tons of game try to overload themselves by doing everything ok but nothing great. Its safer for them to find their niche and corner that market.

Devil's advocate: With the triple A market so heavily stocked, might niche markets be the smart play?

@Issmir

I feel, "Why not?"

There is money to be made in niche markets and catering to such people. IMO, several stores in California survive and thrive but have closed operations in other states (and only operate in California now). It has enough population to support such" niche" stores.

Is this going to be a Shadowbane or Darkfall where you can build guild-cities and have FFA PvP?

hum ... let me guess: both companies have no faith in Fallen Earth and want to re-boot the general game mechanics with a fresh title. however, building a massive overland environment akin to the one in fallen earth is too much trouble and time consuming so they only built the general game zones around the town's/mission hubs and filled in the rest with water.
