Darkfall really is not that bad of a game but it still does need fixing. Looking forward to see what, exactly, 2.0 is. Please fix: character animations, UI, and I do believe a wipe is needed.

What I like about Darkfall is that their community supports their game, just imagine what would happen if CCP said "Lesson learned we are starting all over and considering wiping the servers". Kinda reminds me of the Shadowbane community. ^_^

@Unshra

they only play Darkfall cuz its the only decent game of that kind out (only other I know of is Mortal online and that sucks)

I don't think any Darkfall player has any faith in AV, they are just plainly bad at fixing their game

Don't care about a wipe. They need some type of skill cap. The Jack-of-All Trades master of ALL is really what makes new players feel like they can never compete and drop after a short bit.

@Avernus No. For the 3509240583405th time, the reason new players feel like they can never compete and drop after a short bit has always been the same. How do you expect PVPers new to the game to actually compete (which is what they'd like to do) if there's no way for them to become competitive in an acceptable timespan? Not one person enjoys getting killed over and over for again for a few months, every single day by players they have no chance in hell of competing against. Only those completely reliant on newbies as a source of their virtual wins see the kind of grind that exists in DFO as a good thing.

And it's pretty much the same in every single game where reaching the level/skill cap is hard and at the same time allows high level players to come into newbie areas and slaughter everyone, which is what they do all the time, since normally they couldn't PVP their way out of a wet paper bag. The same bunch of hypocrites and PVP failures will often lecture you on how you need to grow some balls, find a guild, and how they too had to go through the same hazing treatment, when in fact they got their skills up safely macroing their skills 24/7 during the first few months of the release in the depths of the city belonging to their clusterfuck of a guild.

I'm all for open PVP, full loot and as little restrictions as possible, but the reality of the situation is that long grinds and open PVP games/servers don't go well together, and it's only a matter of time before the community destroys itself by preventing newbies from reaching high enough level to become competitive. I really do not understand why Aventurine deliberately chooses not to address this issue and do something to allow new players to develop their characters in an acceptable amount if time. It's killing their game.

The Jack-of-All Trades master of ALL is a different thing entirely. When the game released they had lots of skills, stats and everything, but some of them didn't even do anything, and the "high level content" hadn't been tested by anyone. That's why they dropped the idea of skill / stat caps and class specialization.

@ColRoofles No, I dropped it for the exact reason Avernus described.

@Song7 Sure, because if you could easily catch up with all necessary skills and be able to compete you would've dropped it as well. It's great that you know why you quit and that you can name the reason.

@Ryukan Just because it isn't about WoW, Rift, or some other themepark mmo doesn't mean some people don't want too read about this.

@Jetflame3 Ryukan is not making fun of the game but the fact that the video just shows a toon wielding a sword and running after an enemy...

Pretty much that. Jetflame3 it's not about what game it is, but rather that it just seems like worthless news

So this was a upgrade of some sort? I didn't think it was very impressive, sorry. The characters head was angled down oddly like he had a bad neck crimp. Armor looked ok....

Lot of rumors about them adding a PVE server I can only imagine the screams of anguish if that ever happens

@Dunraven

I would give the game another go if they added a PvE server.

It doesn't impact the hardcore PvPers who are on the same server, and allows people to appreciate the other elements of the game (interesting mob AI, sandbox, etc.) without worried about being brutally ganked and looted.

Should have read "doesn't impact the hardcore PvPers who are on the original server"

@Rialle I doubt Darkfall PvE would have any lasting power at all, all mobs have the same AI just different spells, and they arent interesting either, they just run around in circles
