Tiny Speck has just added one of gaming's wunderkind developers to the team working on its Glitch MMO. Keita Takahashi, renowned as the brains behind Katamari Damacy and Noby Noby Boy, left Namco Bandai last year and has been keeping a low profile ever since.
He's also apparently been having serious discussions with Tiny Speck, and founder Steward Butterfield says that Takahashi has a lot in common with the existing creative team. "We shared the same values -- deep beliefs in curiosity, humor, absurdity, and above all a belief in the positive power of play," Butterfield told GamaSutra.
Glitch is a browser-based side-scrolling casual MMO that is currently undergoing beta testing. The game will launch sometime in 2011 according to the its official website.

I've had a lot of fun in Glitch, and I'm definitely excited to see what Tiny Speck will come up with now that Takahashi is working with them. However, it's Stewart Butterfield, not Steward, silly typo. :P

Forgot about this game and I shoulda guessed it had some Takamari stuff in it (I am such a fan of that series!)
Well, maybe I'll dust off my faux Facebook account for this...when it goes live (because from the comments above and the "invite your friend" thing, I don't think I am getting into Beta.)

For people who want in the beta, the trick is that invites are only given out when the beta is active which is usually once a week. Try requesting on the Glitch Facebook page or at GlitchAddicts.com. I got an invite easily from them and have given out three invites each time the beta is active to people requesting on Facebook or GlitchAddicts.

Yeah it's a pretty fun game. Doesn't feel terribly innovative (nor should it, I reckon) but the game world is fun and cute and hilarious.
Hope that's not an NDA violation...
