I agree, it doesn't feel like there is any point to the timers, it just feels like there is a dude with a taser behind you the entire time you're doing anything in the game. With a few things timers are fine, but it seems like everything you do in this game aside from camping (which wasn't supposed to be in the game period) is timed!

I come home from work I wanna relax and not have to deal with real world issues for an hour or so...to only find out much like my job, I have to complete a task in a allotted amount of time...why?

Can we not just reward players with extra gil or skill for a quick pace...instead of just success? He says he wants strategy to be a part of the game, then give us the time it requires to form one instead of making us charge head first and learn later. *sigh* Great article though!

The really sad thing about the timers on crafting is that it makes it difficult to talk to anyone while you are crafting, other than to just grunt out partial phrases (and compounded by the crafting process occasionally clearing the chat box, which is far less frequently than at launch, but its still there) Gone are the days when you could just sit in Jeuno all day crafting and chatting with your friends.
For me, the whole point of a MMO is that you are interacting with other people. If you have systems designed to take away this functionality, then you have to wonder what type of game SE envisioned.

Hopefully the dungeons are like Dynamis; which you couldn't finish on the first try, but instead gradually killing more and more monsters in the zone per attempt as you learned the fastest methods of clearing them.
