I don't know. That trailer didn't really seem impressive at all to me. I know it is probably in alpha, maybe even pre-alpha, but I was not engaged at all. I like that the battle SEEMED big. But Sony is going to have to do a LOOOOOOOT better than this to even make me think of ever buying or subscribing to a game of theirs ever again.

@extispex. I was always one to give the benefit of the doubt to developers and didn't listen to all the negative press about Sony. Then DCUO happened and I know what people were talking about!
I just hope that this game manages to prevent hackers and cheaters the way APB hasn't (or won't).

@extispex I agree that the trail offers no thrills, especially to people that haven't played Planetside, but i will add one thing, this is pre-beta footage. I have never found excitiement in pre-beta/alpha footage for any MMO.
I understand people playing wait and see, it is SOE afterall, but this that footage will not show what the game will actually end up being like.

I want to feel excited about the game, I really loved the first one for the brief time I played it... but its SOE. In the last few years every game I've bought from them has been a bit of a lemon.

BOO IRON SIGHTS!!! Ok, got that out of my system...I just hope it's as fun as the original, but I really hope they don't try to add CoD-esque elements. I can live with stupid iron sights as long as they don't do completely mental and add cover-based shooting or something like that.

@(Unverified) Agree'd.
The less they promote camping in this game the better. The way Planetside is setup, really creates a necessity for low-accuracy weapons.
Encouraging movement and close encounters is vital to making the game engaging and dynamic.
....as well as having a relatively (to cod etc.) longer ttk.

As much as I enjoyed Planetside, I just can't ride the hypetrain on anything SOE creates. So far nothing SOE has produced has been worthwhile. And don't mention EQ because they were only the publisher of that game, not the actual developer which was Sony's 989 studios. And no being part of the same corporation is not the same thing. Otherwise you could claim that the same people making planetside are the same folks making movies and TVs.

I don't even think there was an SOE at the start. It was under another company. And wasn't the original company named Verant, the McQuaid run 2 man development team who moonlighted as a herbivologist. Then Verant was pulled into Sony989. I think it was after that that SOE became its own entity.
But anyways...no law says you have to like every game. Lots of people play and enjoy the EQs and PSs and DCUOs. Assuming they stay away from PS3, the future looks bright. I note they didn't even mention any of those games for the PS3 when on DCUO launch week everything was headed to the PS3.

Not sure if anything has changed since then, but here's where he confirmed all their MMO's would be on the console from now on.
