@Puremallace

Actually, if I were to venture a guess, more than half the players came from WoW at some point. (The fact that so many of them don't engage in regular PvP suggests as much - not to put too fine a point on it, but most WoWers are NOT PvPers). The sheer difference in players between WoW and Guild Wars is *enormous*, even without the sub fee.

For that matter, a lot of Guild Wars players really, really hate sub fees and may have never touched a pay-to-play MMO in their life.

SWG and SWTOR and not even comparable. SWG was on the decline since the NGE many, many years ago, so its death was inevitable. They also share the same IP, and there's really only room for one Star Wars MMO.

Now, if previous patterns hold out, we'll have 3.0 by the end of this year or the beginning of the next... and you can bet your arse that's going to bring in a huge influx of subs.

@Zyrusticae

I have to disagree with your logic insofar as you stating that most WoW players are not PvPers. I played WoW for 3 years and once I hit the level cap, I literally lived in the battlegrounds. The reason people like me (meaning veterans of games like WoW and Guild Wars) don't play Aion is because Aion is about as far from a "PvP game" as you can get. From what I have seen, Aion's "open-world PvP" involves level 55 players griefing level 25 players, and that is NOT PvP.
I have played Guild Wars now for about 2 and a half years. THAT is PvP: where everyone is the same level and has the same gear. Using Aion's idiotic "rifting" to go hunt players 30 levels below you with your basement virgin buddies does NOT constitute PvP.

@(Unverified) Frankly, Rifting like that hasn't happened in quite a long time. Plus if you actually knew something, you'd know that a level 55 player cannot rift into a 25 level area. If you mean Abyss, well it's stated from the start that that is a open area for all levels.

I'm guessing you got ganked a lot and did a rage quit. No problem. You weren't the only one.

Now, saying that Aion has no PvP because of that is lunacy, that is PvP. Aion's PvP is flawed only in the area that who has the gear, wins. There's little skill involved. You're fast, you have gear, done. Win.

Now rifting? You're wrong. Now there's defensive buffs for each faction on each map and those only go off on selected weeks to engage in Rifting PvP and even then the low level areas still retain some percentage of the defensive buffs to prevent that.

You want to criticize? Feel free. Just do it with some useful information.

@(Unverified) Also, as a former WoW player, battlegrounds are a joke. WoW players do not learn PvP in WoW. Sorry...they don't.

@Puremallace LOL beside fact that GW2 and Aion are two very different MMO and fact you don't need to leave your current P2P MMO to play GW2 (coz GW2 don't have monthly sub, so u can still pay for current one and play GW2 for free).

Beside that, my guild came from War and L2 so gl with trolling and "we are doomed" visions.

@ Pure

I understand your point of view although I do not agree.

Aion and GW2 will run from the same umbrella, more importantly GW2 is free once you buy a pack, without being too harsh I enjoy the haven P2P games give me from spam free to plays who think they are funny. Even if predictions right left and center that they will become extinct I will hold a torch. Finally I just don't think people will upsticks and leave what they have built for a game that played online for free.

Atm Im in a half way house mmo wise and I think that the investment gained from the asian market to aion reaps benefits here in europe as the continual stream of content will be there for us even if one server is the only one standing.

I am trying like crazy to aviod F2P games going VIp usually doesnt bring you the same benefits as it did and you still sort of are obligied to pay extra ontop of it to fully enjoy a half baked product of a game.

Not one triple A mmorpg launched with the intention of going F2P (in my knowledge). F2P is a poison chalice in my book free players don't care so much its the dedicated that end up paying more and there in lies the profits.

It does seem as though Paragon studios are being kinda though but their shop has not been finalised.

Sorry for the rant...

@Puremallace Well, fact is that K-Tera not K-Aion was forced to server merge after 3 months in Korea. And remember that Korean NCSoft headquarters is deciding if their mmo (Aion) will become F2P or closed, then it will realise patch / expansion - even in NA/EU region. So till Aion is doing ok in Korea (and it does) and bring $$$, they won't probably change business model in NA/EU either.
