Yeah no, this solves nothing. Bottom line is the company still sees micro-transactions as a key part of their future, and it's an insult to what Eve once sought to be. Screw that.

Just checking in to see if the smoke has cleared yet. Are people leaving in mass numbers or is this just being shrugged off? i dont know how much of an inpact was made in game because i dont play it.

I'm one of those people who have never played and will never play EVE, but are fascinated by the eruptions of greed and backstabbing that surface around this game from time to time.

Looking at it from the outside as I do, I find it difficult to imagine or believe the CSM walking away from this with any credibility after they all agreed to sign the NDAs. Seriously, I would have resigned as soon as I heard the CCP representative pronounce the syllables "non-disclosure."

@Allegos

I believe it was a NDA on what specifically CCP plans in future to sell as MT's only. But CSM was able to confirm it was strickly cosmetic and that it gave no game play advantage. Feel free to take that for what it's worth.

The CSM is always under an NDA when they go in there to look at stuff CCP hasn't released yet. It has nothing to do with the controversy and is a standard ass-covering move for them as a company; the only reason it was mentioned is so that the CSM wouldn't get swarmed with people demanding to know what exactly they're planning to sell and for how much.

My big problem with the game right now is performance. The code for Incarna is inefficient. The new captains quarters should not require as much horsepower as it does. Overheating a gpu just to walk around a small area? Also the Mac client is quite retarded compared to the windows one. All in all Incarna looks nicer and I like it visually but it runs badly. If they don't tighten up the code, I will not play again till my next computer upgrade, perhaps a couple of years from now.

That wall of text was worthy of Prokofy Neva. Now that the introduction has been posted when can we expect the rest of your thoughts?

Here's hoping CCP actually listens to the playerbase and commits to fixing and improving features we actually give a damn about, instead of CQ & WIS fluff.

Dude!

I think I'll wait for the three part film directed by Peter Jackson to get the gist of it...

I trust The Mittani's assessment of the situation, honestly. He ripped them a new hole over this in other places (and even though you found the CSM statement "dispassionate," he said that when they wrote it he thought it sounded angry. I think they were just trying to be civil), and is still being quite clear about what he thinks of the whole situation. If he hadn't thought that CCP was at least trying to fix things, I'm pretty sure he would have just walked.

Funny how no one mentions how the NeX store is impacting the ingame economy...gotta love how the actual issues get completely glossed over. Ah well, I hope perpetuum enjoys the influx of players :)

I'll not get too personal here, but I can assure you, with actual knowledge of the "two day summit" that happened in Reykjavik, there was a very heated discussion. In the end, CCP told the CSM to practically get bent. The CSM had no other recourse but to threaten with cutting the capital via subscriptions. CCP took this in stride and decided to "stay the course". The specifics of the "summit" I cannot discuss, but I assure you, CCP will do as they please with a feeling of impunity.

CCP, to me, was becoming a trusted and loved company. From the office in Georgia here in the States to Reykjavik abroad, the community felt as if CCP had been completely on the up-and-up. What disappoints me the most was the stance of the CSM and the fact they didn't stand their ground in a more firm fashion (it was a pitiful attempt to represent you, the player-base, to the CCP company as a whole). If any game adds a vanity market and prices an item at such ludicrous prices, you can be assured you will be getting, as the Romans used to say, the "shi*** end of the stick" sooner rather than later. The only actual feat that was accomplished was the fact that the "Fearless" leak stymied the pace at which you will be exposed to this eventual situation.

Now, I understand that many of you long time subscribers and devoted gamers, much like myself, feel as if your CSM representation has serviced you very little during the course of these recent events. The only recourse we have, as players all over the world alike, is to speak with our wallets. I implore you to make a decision based on what you feel is right and, as always, never let anyone, including myself, sway your decisions. I legitimately weep for World of Darkness fans after this unmitigated disaster.

I would like to reiterate that I cannot discuss specifics, as much as I'd like. I am more than happy to discuss some of the events leading up to the "summit" (it was more like brow beating), but anything specific that pertains to the discussions is off limits. Your CSM has fallen short on their posts, but I assure you that not all the CSM representatives did. Some were willing to fall on the sword, as it were, to make your concerns more concise. The official statement that was prepared and published on the page, as you can clearly see, was the end result of you being sold down the river. I am with much sorrow over your short-changing. Voice your opinions to the CSM specifically. I am waiting to hear discussions about this.

I should clarify that I post this here to remain anonymous, as I am sure you can understand the backlash Id be facing if it came to light my role in this.

You guys did notice they did basicially lie in that release, they did do a backtrack however on the main issue. They mention they never had plans for pay to win type items, however the leaked memo they acknowledge was their, clearly state they had some plans in that regard. Not to mention if they didn't have such plans why such a long response, a forum manager could have made a two sentences statement and debunked it all. The reason they couldn't, it was true. I would be more forgiving on the issue, but I had all this side stepping lying BS.

Lower the prices in the shop it's complete over priced BS. It also kills any chance of a player driven crafted economy. This is a joke. Had they offered prices at 1 or 2 dollars it would have been well received and reimburse those who purchased the over priced items....

Sub + cash shop = win win for the CCP bank account.

No sub + cash shop = the victim's preferred choice to the sadist torturer.

"Unfortunately luck for CCP that there was the leak of the Fearless newslettger that set all this nonsense off."

SOO Eve Community, your ruckess is all nonsense!
