Those wondering whether Mandalorians would be involved the in the Bounty Hunter storyline need look no further than the latest progression video released for Star Wars: The Old Republic. In it, the BioWare community team displays the class armor progression but also shows us parts of the Bounty Hunter story. Based on the image above with the Mythosaur-like skull, it could easily be said that Mandalorians throw some sort of tournament for your character to participate in. You can decide whether this is a class story you are interested in by watching the character progression video after the break.
Also, as with all the progression videos TOR as released thus far, we see five possible looks for the character beyond the initial set of armor. Most importantly, we bear witness to many of the powerful gadgets in the Bounty Hunter arsenal. Powertechs appear to specialize in short-ranged AoEs like the carbonite blast and flamethrower, whereas the Mercenary is clearly about ranged power with his dual pistols and wrist-rockets.
The full progression video follows after the break, and to read more about the Bounty Hunter, be sure to visit the official Star Wars: The Old Republic website.
This game is looking better all the time. Is it just me or did that look a lot less cartoony than the other vids. It's like they're progressively adding more detailed textures.
That's because they are progressively adding more detailed textures as testing goes on and people report back on not only the gameplay, but the environment and art.
How uninteresting and pathetic could they make powertech seem? That was a really poor display of any technique of interest. Bland is an understatement.
I understand they wanted to update the BH video to match the others, but couldn't they have at least released the other classes first? People already had a good idea for both combat and looks of the BH, which is more then I can say for JC, Smuggler and IA
What strikes me is how amazing the character animations look. I mean when they're running, jumping or doing anything it really looks life-like. And these are all totally pulled from in-game footage too.
Most cut-scenes in video games look stiff and rigid and every type of character walks the same and "marches" in step the same. In here they all sort of have their own center of gravity and balance differently. The motion capture is amazing.
Agreed. It's good to see them take the time to get some really good, fluid animations. While the video didn't do a whole lot for me, the quality of the animations were quite impressive. I'll have also agree with others here in stating that the game looked much less cartoony in this video.
Yeah I never was bothered by the "cartoony" thing people speak of because that's just the stylized graphics approach and it's very smart too.
Photo-realistic graphics in games, especially MMO's, are a mistake. They age poorly and have the creepy "uncanny valley" effect. Stylized graphics age very well and don't have creepy looking "Tom Hanks, Polar Express" character models with "dead eyes".
Trust me when the game comes out and runs smooth as silk and the we grow used to the art style, we'll all have NO problems with the graphics then.
Look at LotRO. Great game, beautiful graphics, yet still terrible character models and rendering performance.
I'm not quite there, but another month of mediocre videos and no release date might get me there. My hype level was super high and it diminishes every Friday that the game isn't released.
I also appreciate Massively's honest commentary from the E3. They didn't do Bioware any favors though.
FIVE armor sets! Wow! I'm really gonna be able to stand out from all the other bounty hunters! Assuming we ever see any other bounty hunters in the instanced single player MMO!
@ThePenIsMightier It's a sample of the armor they have, not every single set. Is that really that hard to understand? Instanced? You have no idea about this game. Get out troll.
I'd wager I have more of an idea about this game than most people-there are reasons that I'm not playing it anymore, and you aren't playing it at all ;)
