Funcom has released a new location video today showing of the Savage Coast (no, not that one). We're talking about the The Secret World's Savage Coast, and the two-minute clip takes us on an atmospheric journey around the waterways and backstreets of Kingsmouth and Solomon Island.
Along the way, we see glimpses of previous location reveals including the Kingsmouth lighthouse, Innsmouth Academy, the Accursed Woods, and Atlantic Island Park. According to the clip's narrator, evil has always lurked in and around Solomon Island, and Funcom's editing results in many classically influenced scenes of dread and foreboding.
The video finishes up with a few seconds of combat, intercut from a variety of group and solo encounters. While there's not a lot new here, the production values are so high that we can't help but be creeped out and anxious for the next reveal. Check out the full clip at CryGaia.net.

Funcom seems to find it hard to create names.
I really want someone to create a Scooby Doo themed guild in TSW.
Just for jokes.

The environments look great. One nitpick, there are too many ropy wisps of fog featured. I live in a foggy area, and don't see that very often. And the character animations look somewhat crude, like Fallen Earth.

@Taawa
Is the fog in your area possibly the result of supernatural forces seeking to cloak dark and squamous creatures?
I think the supernatural influence gives license for the foggy tendrils. Besides, it makes it looks like the fog is an entity in and of itself.
Also, animation smoothing is one of the last things that usually gets added in most games, so I'm hopeful they'll be better. FE's animations in an equivalent stage in the game were like a slideshow.

If @Taawa does live in area where the fog is a result of super natural forces, I doubt he / she will talk about it. It's probably their own 'dirty secret'.

You know, I really want this game to be successful because Funcom seems to be making something very interesting here. I like the theme and the lore. I like the idea of using all those miths, legends and conspiracy theories we know and using them as the story for the game. But the sad part is I don't see TSW attracting many people when it's going to be released close to giants like Old Republic, Tera and GW2. It's going to be overshadowed, I think. Also, I might be wrong here, but MMO players usually are more interested about fantasy settings than real life world, so I don't know if that's going to be another problem for the game.
I really hope I'm wrong though and this game sells well and keep a steady playerbase

I think it's niche appeal will help, especially to fans of the Mythos.

Unless you know something the rest of us don't, there's no guarantee it'll be released close to when TOR and GW2 are. For all we know TSW is still more than a year away. TOR is likely going to be released this year, and GW2 is probably due early '12.
There's no point worrying about things we don't know yet. :)

I can't quite place my finger on who the narrator is. Anyone mind pointing him out? It's driving me crazy! I know I've heard that voice before.
The player running animations need some more work, they looked stiff running across the bridge. Also, seeing a chainsaw swipe someone and do no noticeable damage is a bit disconcerting. I don't mind the typical suspension of disbelief, but it feels a bit much in this case. You even see a little blood splatter but no mark left afterwards.
Griping aside, I like the art style overall. It's nice to get a modern setting with slightly stylized art; something different from what I'm used to is nice.

There are some excellent, atmospheric environments here. I agree with the posters above that the character animations aren't great, however.
But I can live with that. I am looking forward to seeing more of this game.

Absolutely agree that while the environments look amazing (almost too good), the character models look poorly done and their animations are way too stiff.
I say the environmental design seems almost "too good" because it starkly contrasts the character models too much. It's as if those are actually real life videos of actual locations and some 3D character models are super-imposed upon them. Either make the entire art style fluid or go with a more stylized approach so the characters don't look out of place.

This game looks soooo cool...
The setting is amazing and will probably help increase a lot the immersion factor (its much easier to do this if its similar to the real world) and the NPC mobs look so original and different from everything else.

This guys voice narrating reminded me of the incredibly addicting series AFTERWORLD. Sadly from what i can gather SONY got their fingers in the mix and the series ended at episode 130. I would love to find out why the series ended at season one when so many were planned barring of course something bad happening to the ceator of the series.

The more I learn about this game the more I want to play. Which is the exact opposite of SW:TOR.
