It does suck for them. Especially the one's who paid for a lifetime sub for $150. But at least this one is only $4 now and you seem to get a more stable client from what I'm hearing.

Anyone on Win XP having problems launching the launcher (!), you need to Run As an admin account that has a password. For some kooky reason, the launcher won't work for some people otherwise. It's easy enough to quickly make a new Admin account with a simple PW for the purpose. When you do the Run As after that, you'll get a dialogue letting you choose your new, passworded account and bingo! (no need to reboot).

What a disgusting business model, ya know. I bought this game once. And even back then it didnt require a "Ticket Fee" to play beyond a certain level of content. I also was a subscribing member to the game. In the hope that'd it'd see some light. Yet, I don't think I can really look kindly on what this company is doing considering. This game Has already trashed one gpu of mine since closed beta which I had to shell more money out on and then make me pay a bs "suck my d" fee for playing something I have already bought once.

To everyone that wants to play this, YOU HAVE TO PAY A TOTAL OF 24 DOLLARS FOR THE FULL GAME, YOU HAVE TO BUY ONE TICKET FOR EACH ACT. Just saw this on their forums, apparently they changed 'one ticket=all acts'. Not gonna play this POS game.

@blix2006

The in-game ticket item actually says something to the effect of "Opens Act 3 gate - Unlocks one expansion". It's no wonder people are getting confused over this. Well, that, and the re-translation back to English is horrendous for the new content.

Also hearing that you can only buy coins at a minimum of $5, and it doesn't unlock the shared storage area. It says you need a "Premium Account", and god knows what that's gonna cost.

Confusing and murky launch and Free to Play model aside.

I will say the game runs really smooth, looks amazing and is very fun. It basically takes elements of a hack 'n slash MMO and a regular MMO and some FPS elements to make a unique game.

Art design and music are pretty great actually. Character Models are very nice, but only humans ofc. The UI is fine but pretty big and there is zero customization for the UI elements. Alot like Allods Online in that the UI is functional and well designed, but it's too BIG and can't be changed in any way. You can't even move any basic elements from what I can see.

Also they have fixed the download client and their own mirrors are both working well now since the official kickoff at 7pm EST June 30th. I actually had to wait to re-re-RE-download it, but all seems fine now and they must have changed the server because it was actually downloading very fast.

Bottomline is that the game looks and plays GREAT. The $4 price tag seems quite reasonable if only that it was sprung on us all at the 11th hour. But you get tons of content for free and the first 2 acts will give you a strong idea about whether the game is for you or not.

If you're looking for a very unique MMORPG with strong FPS elements and you're sick of the tired "fantasy" genre, than this action-oriented MMO might actually be for you. As for me however, since today's launch didn't go that smoothly, I'm going to wait on purchasing that $4 ticket for at least a couple weeks. But the game does seem to have great potential.

I d/l the client yesterday from about 4-6:30 EST. Came over smooth and fast - no problems. The game seems fun.
It is 3rd person/1st person. I'm not sure how they're doing the "to hit" calculations though. It doesn't completely feel like they're tracking bullets ala Call of Duty etc, and my sword seems to work from a sword and a half's distance away.

Anyone know how deep the game goes? I'd still like to see a 1st person combat mechanic on a fully fleshed out MMORPG. It's kind of looking like DCUO (mechanics-wise) to me at this point, but maybe it's just the giant UI

My question is... with Hellgate: London being a flop, how are they expecting this to be a success? Sorry, but I just don't buy into these guys thinking they're going to get anywhere with this one.
