Needs a US release, I'd play the hell out of a DBZ MMO.

If you look closely, I believe Goku has a halo. Which means he is dead...again. And no one in that picture is from DB/z/gt, so I don't see how you get 216 years later = same cast.

@ndessell

I think the only characters from the anime who are still alive are the ones who would make sense to still be alive (characters who can live a super long time or are immortal and such).

You just get to interact with the cast of DB/DBZ when doing the Time Rift/Time Machine stuff.

Just what we need...another Asian grindfest MMO that's based on some pointless show/comic/book. >.

@C Rose

So far from what I played (first thirty levels, which I guess only gets me to the level where I can become an adult and choose my master class), I bet it'll be a huge hit once it comes to English-speaking shores. It very much feels like Dragonball. The only thing that they don't have yet is flight, which will eventually come out I'd imagine.

I just hope a US or EU publisher can start working on it soon. Otherwise it probably won't be out for us until 2013 or late 2012.

I'm honestly surprised it took this long for DBZ to get thrown into the MMO market.

Cool to see that Massively did an article on this.

Basically Dragonball Online is like WoW meets DBZ. That's really the best way to describe it. It -really- feels like the anime/manga which is great for fans of the series. That and all the iconic moves (Kamehameha, Kaioken, Destructo Disk(Kienzan), Tri-Beam(Kikoho), etc.) are used by the various classes.

Overall from what I played of it it's a very fun game and Wasaabi is ridiculously generous with giving free cash shop item samples (though of course this is beta so they're doing events and such as well).

Also right now there's an event going on that rewards you for getting a character to level 30, and then if you can get a second character of a different race to level 30 as well then you get a free third character slot.

I however decided to stop worrying about playing that game. As much as I like it, I'd rather not have it spoiled for me by the time it (eventually) comes out to the US and/or Europe :P

Oh... also, netmarble's website isn't the one people should go to to get the Taiwanese version. That'll lead them to the Korean version which requires a Korean ID to play.

http://www.wasabii.com.tw/ is the site for the company that's running the Taiwanese version of Dragonball Online.

And DBOCom's forums has a thread in the Taiwanese Server section about how to set up an account and also stuff like which server you'll find most English players on.

@Sorithal

Just out of curiosity, are there any English based fan sites for this like WoW Insider that gives you more rounded explanation of classes, gameplay, screens, etc?

@Utakata

The Dbocom website that's linked in the article is basically the only real good place to find the most up-to-date info on stuff. There used to be another site or two but they seemed to have died off.

In 4 hours, no one has noticed that Taiwanese is misspelled in the article's headline? Forget about being fluent in Mandarin, find some editors who are fluent in English!

Trying to do the sign-up right now, hopefully it works out. Followed this for awhile way back, kinda forgot about it. Always looked fun! It's been in development for awhile now, that's good - not some quick p.o.s that got thrown together. At least some work has been put into it. The animation style looks excellent, really looks like the anime.

Good luck anyone trying to play this, the guide for getting a account hasn't worked for me, keeps skipping over part and no emails come for any account I've tried setting up. Oh well whatever.........

Wait, got it working.
a) I was translating as Japanese instead of Chinese.
b) Apparently the password field has a problem with... complexity.
