Wait, let me get this right, you can now buy Trips to the vault?
A risk free envirionment that can reward multiple Emblems of triumph for no risk or effort?
so there is now a %100 risk free way for players with deep pockets to BUY thier tier 1 armor sets....the fail here is great.

@Skyydragonn How is it any different than guilds selling raid runs for X item in say WoW? SOE model is buy station cash in 1k amounts for 10usd, WoW is buy gold from some gold farmer in X amounts and turn around and pay a guild to drag your sorry ass through for the item drop. SOE just cuts out the 2nd and 3rd tier middlemen in their system.

Actually they are since the vault now rewards Emblems of triumph which you ned to purchase Tier 1 gear...a player with deep pockets can now skip the gearing up process required to raid batcave and jump right into tier 2 cluelessly.....

microtransnactions of any kind in a subscrition based game is just an epic fail and it will kill the industry. I loved EVE once I liked STO I was a hardcore AOC g4mer and I´m not sure if I want "this" anylonger.

I'm playing DCUO at the moment. I played through the beta too. I have to say, Sony did make a half decent superhero third person action game. I really love the instances where I get to go beat on Black Adam or Circe or Gorilla Grodd or the Sinestro Corps. And I have been surprised that Sony hasn't added items to their built in store before now. What they did add, while funny in its lack of substance is ok with me. Small things that make the game a little more convenient.
It's too bad they spent so much time and money on what is effectively an offline action game ... NOW WITH MICROTRANSACTIONS!
WTB more old school villain encounters! Where is Black Manta?!

They probably should have done this when the game had an actual player population. Not sure what kind of profit they are expecting from the ghost town the game has become.

@Quarlo

People are actually buying the stuff. Its buggy though. Not sure why they made it live instead of putting it on the test server...I guess they were impatient.

Remember a couple weeks again when SOE was selling station cash points at 3 for 1? People bought them like crazy. In EQ2, people were trading in game plat for SC points. Well, if you don't have a cash shop, you don't get a cut of those profits. So this game now has a cash shop.

I'm a lifer. I don't really care about the cash shop. These are items I wouldn't buy. I only get mad when content packs(Cryptic,Turbine) are sold. I'll buy a new costume piece in a minute but I hate being restricted on content. If DCUO starts selling powers or content, I'll remove it from my HD. Till then, they can sell whatever they want.

What is the best way to address a failing game requiring a premium subscription? Evidently launching a cash shop to squeeze more money out of the few players remaining is the answer!

@JohnLane

I agree. However, I wouldn't be surprised if this was SOE's first move to making this game F2P.

I wouldn't mind a cash shop in a subscription game if the monthly cost wasn't so high.

5 bucks a month wouldn't bother me, but 15 and an ingame shop? Forget about it.

Well, its up to the players. If people werent paying for box, sub, cash shop, and so on, even when it comes to a mediocre at best game, the the gaming scene wouldnt be filled with 95% total crap and fast cash grab projects.

Stop paying for shit, people :)

Ok, this is just pathetic. 3 items for the marketplace and not one of them is useful. Vault tickets are a waste of cash, i havent gotten anything new from the vault in over 2-3 months now, the only thing good i can say about the vault is that it was giving me marks of triumph every day, but just 1 mark so that wasnt a big deal. Also the repair bots, come on thats just sad. Every area, raids and alerts, have a repair spot right at the start of them. So repair bots are just for the people too lazy to run back to the start. What a waste of time. Oh well i already quit the game until they merge servers because there arent enough people to play with.

Which reminds me, their "paid accounts only" test for the mega server was a HUGE mistake. If they made it open to anyone then they could have a chance to win back the players they lost when they let some people hack their systems. But nooo they had to go and make it paid accounts only, well gee Sony, here is a clue, THERE ARENT THAT MANY PAID ACCOUNTS LEFT, THATS THE PROBLEM. No one wants to pay you just to test out something you should have had out 2 months ago...
