It's patch day in Warhammer Online, and we've got your your 1.4.3 update at a glance. In case you're trying to sneak in a few minutes of play during your workday, we're sorry to inform you that Mythic's servers are currently down (the good news is that there's an expected up time of 1:30 p.m. EDT according to the note posted yesterday on the official website).
So what's new and exciting in this patch? For starters, Sigmartide. This two-week live event sees Order players basking in the glow of the faction's first emperor while they "seek out corruption, cleanse the wicked, and honor the age-old bonds with the Dwarfs." Destruction types, meanwhile, will actively oppose all the revelry by desecrating celebration altars and doing all the things that bad guys do.
Also falling under the 1.4.3 banner are new temporary RvR accessory sets and a shakeup of WAR's scenario lineup. Hit up the official website for more details.

Oh, Warhammer. Why did you have to fail me? :(

Out of interest:
Did Massively ever have a WAR columnist? I sort of vaguely remember there being one, but, what happened to the column itself? No writers, lack of interest?

Yeah, when columns stop they never really announce it unless the writer's leaving on their own accord.

WAR is nothing but a no-skill zerg fest with a class balance far more broken than usual and an insane (until late at least) gear gap.
decent PvPers were the first to leave that sinking boat months after release, and went back to the PvP game they were previously playing, DAOC LoL HoN whatever.
if you endured that for 2 years that means you are not good at real competitive pvp games and had to conform with that crappy excuse of a MMO for the pvp impaired...

Did you SERIOUSLY just list Heroes of Newerth and League of Legends as games where "real" pvpers are? You're fighting NPC's 3/4 of the time....
1.) Those aren't even MMO's
2.) Its all about baiting people out and ganking them
3.) Pretty much a side-scrolling click 50x per minute dance game (no skill really needed...)
4.) Mass balance issues (Annie..? went 14-0-4 w/ her 1st time i played)
DAOC i agree with, that is still the king of pvp. But from the rage in your post it seems to me like you're butthurt you got stomped in pvp too.
I agree, pvp isn't for everyone and some should stick to fighting npc's to feel special.
I wont be commenting on this article anymore since its all people with bad computers or a lack of pvp skills.

LOL Ive been PVPing in mmos since UO came out I do just fine. I was in the closed Beta for war and played it for about 9 months. PVP in war consisted of keep surfing and swapping BOs without really fighting others much. Then it turned into waithammer where people just sat around unless a zone was going to flip and a keep siege opened. The endgame was loltastic fail PVE and pvp where people would repeatedly queue with no opposition. Dungeons were buggy and not fun, crafting was a joke and class balance was non-existant.
T1 and T2 were a blast after that the game turned into fail.

I wanted to like WAR. But it was buggy, and it wouldn't work on my computer. It wasn't that I didn't have the specs to handle it, it just wouldn't keep a solid framerate for no apparent reason.

Happy patch day all!
Come back and play WAR, I dare you :p
If you pick a populated server you'll have a blast.

Does the game still run like a glitchy piece of shit on every computer, or is it just the trial client? I recently grabbed the trial client and even let it do its 21GB download so it wouldn't have to stream data, and it ran like total shit on a computer that should be able to run it on max settings 3 or 4 times simultaneously.
I've got 1666mhz ripjaws, 3.5ghz quad-core Phenom II black edition, GTX 460 GDDR5 GPU and a 650W PSU. It's like two-three times the computer that anyone was using when WAR came out in terms of performance/power, and yet two months ago when I ran the trial client, it still ran with hitches. Crysis 2, RIFT and other games with much higher graphical quality all run perfect at ultra sets.
Also does anyone know if mobs still tether/teleport to max tether range, then reappear instantly with full HP, if endgame RvR is still being shuffled around radically in terms of design or if it's finally stabilized and chosen a freaking system, and if the Magus/Blackguard are finally up to par? I know they were talking about doing some pet buffs for Magus/Engi last I played, but I didn't have a lot of faith that the mirrors would ever become competent because, well, Mythic fumbled like Kleinsasser when it came to this game, so I was just curious if anything ever got fixed in the past 8+months since I last tried it?
Anyone know about any of this?

You must have an underlying hardware or software issue as I have a relatively old rig compared to yours and I can run the game OK on medium settings without too much fuss.
If mobs have to run too far away from their spawn point the do spring back to their stating location with full health, but this is pretty standard in MMOs.
RvR is very active in t4, albeit the overall system isn't some peoples favourite (including mine) which involves you building up resources by locking BOs and setting off resource carries to rank up your keep, which then allows you to attack the enemies keep. I preferred the old system where anyone could bash the door down, but each to their own and there are still plenty of people away from Keeps to fight.
Blackguards are one of the better tanks in the game now and quite a popular choice.
Magus/Engi's have had a buff in this patch which iirc boosts their damage quite significantly when in close proximity to their pets.
On a similar note, I really don't see what everyone's issues are with WAR as yes there are things we'd like to be different, but you get that in every MMO. The PvP is unrivaled (now DAoC has perished pretty much) and the look of the game is great too.

My initial reaction to seeing this was "Wow, WAR is still alive?"
It'd be nice if they would adopt the f2p several other MMOs have that aren't doing too well. Though I doubt EA would really want to do that unless they shove the cash shop down the players' throats and have prices that are kind of ridiculous for stuff.
