It's a year already with constant updates with no release date in sight. I think too much info is a bad thing at this point. Does anyone really hang on every piece of info anymore?. I certainly don't.

Agreed. GW2, TOR and TSW are all games for which their producers are giving too many previews but not actual release date, not even for a beta.

@Darkmoone I've purposely stopped reading any info on GW and SWTOR. I'd like to save some of my surprise for when I actually get to play the games.

@Sephirah

Exact Beta date is unknown but the beta window is at the end of the year. So expect something from September onward.

I read it all and I know a lot of other fans who do. But I find game design fascinating and if ANet wanted to do nothing but release "here's how we do things" dev blogs for the next six months I'd be perfectly content. :P

Is that a definite release date? If your answer is yes then you are definitely reaching mate.

@Dirame Yeah, and if he's reaching, he'll need Arms as long as a goddamn Football Pitch.

We only know the release date comes out this year and that could be anytime from now to Dec. 31st, barring unforeseen circumstances.

Release date could very well overlap, because it's only a contract with one company (SOE) and not another (LA). I mean, how do you explain Clone Wars in that equation? Sure, not a full-fledged MMO, but close enough to bother the EA dominance.

At this point, it's all speculation and not concrete.

I must say that while I'm eagerly awaiting TOR I also have no problems reading every bit of information whether it spoils the plot of surprise at all.

HOWEVER, with GW2 I am so ridiculously excited that I almost try to avoid too much information (despite a strong desire to read everything I see). What does that say about how much I'm anticipating GW2 and also how much I trust ArenaNet to not dissapoint?

All that being said, for the love of all that is holy Anet, please let it "be done" soon. Not too soon, but soon soon. :)

Less hype, more beta. The game and content should talk for it self.

I believe that is the reason they had a Fan Day and also why they plan to be at the major Fan conventions this summer.

I haven't even read the GW2 updates lately. Imagine if you have to eat lobster everyday,, you will get tired of it as well.

For some reason, AAA MMO titles these days are over marketed. Do I need to be updated on every location created in TSW? Do I need to keep hearing great voice over story in TOR everyday? Do I need a fricking screen shot for TERA every week?

I will prolly not read any updates for GW2 until the 8th class is released.

I would have to disagree with the sentiment that too much information is being revealed. The blogs feel more broad in focus involving mechanics and insights into the design process which I rather appreciate as an avid fan of the industry as a whole.

We are also moving further from stoically silent studios that make hardly a peep about their development or updated content and honestly I'm more then happy to see that era pass even if it means longer lead ups to an actual release.

This. The devblog posts don't really give much about the actual game away, if anything. They're still a form of hype, but to me it feels less like "Look how awesome our game is!!" hype and more "Look how awesome our company/development process is!!", which helps build trust and confidence among those of us who like to know how they come to their decisions.

I don't really get the stop-talking-and-give-a-release-date comments that always follow one of these, either. I know it's hard to be patient, but knowing when it's going to be out isn't going to actually make it arrive any faster.

@GryphonStalker Agreed 100%.

However, the reasons behind my Cult-Like following of Arena-Net & GW2 is mostly due to the fact that they have probably the most talented Writers & Artists in the business today. Reading the Lore and staring at the Artwork is mezmerizing.

Even moreso with Daniel Dociu, who, as a Comic Book Illustrator myself, is my inspiration, and probably the greatest & most brilliant Artist I've ever seen, and I follow / use his technique in my own Art.

I've actually had people ask me "Who's your inspiration behind your Technique and Design direction?", When I say its Daniel, they're like"....who?...". My following reply is "Just wait about a year-or-so, you'll know who he is....trust me."
