It seems your desperate for news. :P Is this really something to be proud of to out sell games that have been out for quite some time?

@Greymantle

Kind of sounds like it doesnt it, id hope it would outsell other games in its first month on steam because its probably not going to get much publicity beyond this.

In some cases, that is quite shocking. If you followed NPD reports, you would see games like CoD, Halo, Mario, etc will comfortably remain in the top 10 games sold for at least a few months regardless of what comes out.

The fact that Rift, this seemingly 'big, successful' MMO is being outsold by a seemingly much smaller and much less popular game can be seen as quite an accomplishment.

So with that I say good for you Heatwave. I didn't care for the game myself, but good news is still good news regardless of who it happens to so I'm happy for them. here's wishing them the best!

People like the new and shiny. I'm actually surprised to see Guild Wars as high as it is. It's 6 years old.

I'm assuming the free to play games aren't included on the list.

This post is discriminatory toward Spanish/Latin fat kids and their love of Flan and Dulce le Leche!

Despite this post feeling like a trollbait, G&H probably pulled many due to great promo artwork.

@Dumac
Well, RIFT pulled many by claiming "You're not in Azeroth anymore" and "Join our Horde", saying it was 'next gen' and promising something different than WoW.

A shady Father's Day deal where they sell you the game, but don't include the first month. Then topping it all off, claiming it stole WoW's 600k subs...

...all the right before declaring it was annexing 20 servers for ..lol...'trial subscriptions'.

After all of that, I'd be willing to forgive Heatwave for an exciting piece of box cover art. At least they didn't make a whole bunch of half truths.

@real65rcncom

1. there was a regular sale with the first month for 'non' free trials. ps you wouldn't have heard about it if you hadn't seen massively's terrible article or were a free trial

2.blizzard the 600k sub piss match. uncool yes, but from both ends
3. ok the marked severs for free trials, free transfers will fix that and fewer super noobs on ma sever

4 chill the hell out its a game, your going to get an ulcer

Well, there goes that bet I wagered thinking Gods and Heroes would draw low numbers!

(No, not really!)

Yeah, I suspect people wanting to try a "new" game and wanting to get away with what is already out there.

But, glad for this small victory for the studio. Hope they can parlay it and keep adding/finishing the game because it needs it.

Actually, despite looking terrible, combat in GNH is really quite fun. The devs are so open, the ceo posts replies to your threads on the forums, and the ingame community is really friendly.
The graphics for certain things are terrible, but the world actually looks quite beautiful.

Once they add the 30-40 areas that were in beta that add 3 or so full team dungeons, and redo animations, GNH will be a great game.
Plus, the devs said they only need like 10,000 subs at launch to be successful, so thats good.

@BigAndShiny I'm glad that nobody is debating that the graphics and animations are...lackluster if I'm being polite. I've not really looked into this game beyond watching the trailer, but my first impression was shock that anyone would drop money on a box for this. Lends your argument about gameplay a lot more credence.

A game like this is obviously filling someone's niche, and I guess I won't bash it just because it's not mine. Hope they surprise us all!

Who would see that coming?
Maybe this game will be able to carve its own niche after all.

At least the setting is a breath of fresh air. Despite being fantasy based, setting it in the Roman era is a great choice and I would love to see more MMOs make that choice.

Good for them!

It has probably been a bit of a gamble to take Perpetual's old implementation and try to get it to work out well with perhaps a relatively modest investment.

Rift is not so old and one of the "hot" titles as of late, so perhaps either G&H is doing quite well or Rift not quite able to place themselves at the top of sales charts for a long time like WoW did.

This might explain the peculiarly large number of French-speaking players in the game.
