It's not every day that we get to tell you about a new MMOTPS (that's third-person shooter, if you're wondering), so without further delay: Hey guys, check out this new MMOTPS! It's called Deep Black, though we're wondering why it's not called Deep Blue since much of the action apparently takes place underwater and in the air via various forms of jetpack. Don't worry, land-lubbers, there's plenty of action on terra firma as well.
The title is being developed by Biart Studio, a Russian outfit headquartered in the Moscow equivalent of Silicon Valley, and the game will feature "fully customizable [character] appearance, more than 30 types of sci-fi weapons, and three game modes at launch," according to a Biart press release. The game is a F2P instanced shooter featuring eight to 24 players, and it's coming to a PC near you in the near future.
You can check out our sister site's Deep Black reveal from last summer, and you'll also want to head to the game's official website to learn more.

"The game is a F2P instanced shooter featuring eight to 24 players," Since when did we start qualifying MMOs as games lacking a single-player campaign?

Apparently once you make it F2P or slap a cash shop onto it, it becomes some sort of MMO. Go figure.

It's instanced and only allows 24 players? That's not an MMO. That's a third person shooter with multiplayer. Are they trying to claim it's an MMO because it's F2P?

I don't get why on their page it says "..going to be released for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC in summer 2011" and "..going to start beta testing in the Q4, 2012"

This is a traditional multiplayer, not an MMO.

For the love of god people, nobody cares if you think it's an MMO or not. It's a stupid argument. It's not like "MMO" is a precious brand with a sterling reputation being sullied by those "lesser imitators". The MMO has always been the red-headed bastard step-child of the gaming world and likely always will be. MMO is an arbitrary label. Deal with it.
Besides, the lobby+instance model of MMOs has been around a good long time (since before WoW, nearly as long as SWG). Get over it already. This site covers MOBAs for christ's sake. Deal.
Anyway, back to the topic, they probably didn't choose Deep Blue Online because it's already trademarked.

It's mistake in this news.
If you look at original press release you can see -
"Deep Black Online is based on the sci-fi world of the Deep Black title, which is going to be released for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC in summer 2011. "
"Biart is going to start beta testing in the Q4, 2012."
It's mean that Deep Black will released at Summer !! Deep Black is single-player game for PC and consoles. It have some multiplayer modes via Live/PSN/Steam, but it's not MMO.
And of course Free2Play model is not possible for Xbox 360.
The bad thing that a lot of site repost this posrt... Microsoft and Sony will be surprised :)
