This the kind of Open Beta that is for testing or is it like the usual f2p affair and is really a headstart?

@bobfish

The game has been running in Asia since the original Hellgate London. Aside from localizing the content patches, they didn't really have much to do in order to bring it to the states. Gauge interest, set the servers accordingly.

So headstart.

People should know that this HASN'T been in closed beta since the beginning of the month. It was in testing for a weekend, and half of that weekend the servers were either down or not letting anyone log in.

Look at the size of that gun! It's about as large as the person holding it.

Actually the closed beta only ran from June 3rd to June 5th, as mentioned in official releases (and by extispex above): http://hellgate.t3fun.com/News/Event_List.aspx?eid=57&etype=0 and http://forum.t3fun.com/hellgate/announcement/cbt-phase-ends-today-1096/ . After the closed beta ended there were no official announcements regarding development or the next stage of beta until today (although there were some new content announcements which I suppose you could count as development announcements... of a sort).

Wow open beta already?! Not a good sigh seeing that they had one, count 'em one closed beta over that weekend period in early June and that did not go so well. Actually after the brief time I got to try the closed beta and actually got in the game, I was turned off of it,which is odd since I didn't mind the game when it first came out. They didn't really change much in the game, the graphics feel substandard and the gameplay now feels a bit grindy and repetitive. They are going to have to step up their game for the open beta or the future of Hellgate is going to be rough.

Hope they fix the few glaring poor translations from the beginning of the game/tutorial. That could really turn some people off (read:me) before they get to the good stuff. Other than that, hope everything goes well and that Hellgate gets some much needed love.

Their tagline should be, "Go to hell! On June 30".
