I'm envisioning it as the new fantasy Facebook for the under-13 crowd.

(And for those of us who are easily regressed to such a state.)

The other part of this Pottermore announcement was that JK was finally giving in and allowing the HP books to be released as eBooks.

now that this has been announced i don't think there is anything about this that warrants further attention on Massively.

unless we start having posts about live concerts and sports games and facebook and any random thing a lot of people are involved in.

I hate it when there are these big build-ups to "major announcements" and when they finally arrive... they don't tell you jack shit. It makes me feel jerked around and frankly pisses me off and makes me not care about whatever it was they're trying to sell.

From what she said it almost seems like she's alluding to an official fan fiction site.

@Yog It's a 'fan' site run by her company in which they make money.

@HokieKC Did you expect them to do it for free?

@Yog - Of course not. I've just never seen so much hype surrounding a 'fan' site set up by anyone.

@HokieKC True...I think if she did this like 5 years ago or so it might have been warranted but harry potter is old news now. We've moved on and we don't need a fan site anymore unless she plans on writing more books.

@Yog Very doubtful. Fan fiction is technically a copyright violation, but since the downsides of fighting it are worse than the upsides, most authors and their publishers simply turn a blind eye. To officially allow it could cause a whole host of legal problems.

@DeadlyAccurate I dunno...given her rags to riches story I'd think she'd want to help people develop their writing skills.

@HokieKC It's not a "fan" anything if the creator is involved with it.

Do you not understand what "fan" entails?

I really enjoyed those paper effects in that video.

No comment on Pottermore itself...

The big unveiling already happened, yet nowhere in this article is it mentioned. Strange. Pottermore is going to be the ONLY PLACE ANYWHERE where you'll be able to get digital versions of the books. Thats the big announcement. That Ebooks of the potter series will be exclusive at pottermore.

thats it. there is no game...

As I previously mentioned its a portal for Harry Potter, a one stop location for all your Potter needs.

She's also going to be selling the books as ebooks through the site rather than existing retailers.
