Thanks for pulling all this information together in one place, Brandon.

I'm consistently impressed by all the additions and improvements the STO devs keep adding to the game. I really enjoy playing STO, and the devs keep giving me new reasons to feel that way.

Cheers,

Something Heretic mentioned this morning for KDF players is the ability to execute crew for incompetence...

I'm looking forward to this system. They haven't activated it on Tribble yet.

You may have noticed that episode has not been spoken of since. It's one of those heavy-handed moral message eps that Star Trek has always been prone to (Pollution is Bad! also, War is Bad! Drug Addiction is Bad! Slavery is Bad!)

The new graphics compression currently on Tribble are FAN-freaking-TASTIC!

If you haven't gone to check out how the game will look for season 4: GO, run, don't walk.

@Quarlo

They increased the video compression to 4X while maintaining the same memory usage.

This coupled with the ground combat overhaul is making me seriously consider resubbing for a month to see if it's any fun. Now to just wait for it to go live though.

Elite Force remains one of the best Star Trek games ever. If they MUST force ground combat on us (which is rare in Star Trek anyways), then it should try to live up the standard set by Elite Force, rather than just be a complete disaster like it currently is.

@MMOaddict

Agreed. The Doff and ground combat revamp may well get me to resub. The only concern I haven't heard whether they've addressed is the huge imbalance between the elite difficulty setting in space and the elite difficulty on the ground. The former is ridiculously easy, while the latter is impossible. More than anything else, that caused me to leave the game. Anyone know if it's being fixed?

Oh, and thanks for the summary of the Doff system, Brandon. That's the first cogent explanation of it I've seen. Good job.

Cannot wait for season 4, thanks for the post. I still had not fully scaled Heretic's wall of text...

When is this expected to go live? Along with Season 4 or later in the year?

Here's the tentative plan:

July 7th:
+New Ground Combat
+New Qo'nos Neighborhood + Shipyard
+New Open PvP DSE (freighter raids)

Coming on July 7th or shortly thereafter:
+Borg Updates *(Adaptive Shields!) and STFs tweaks, to include new loot and accolades
+Klingon Intro Missions (around one level or grade's worth to introduce the new Qo'nos)

TBD (but before Season 5):
+Duty Officer System (needs a month on Tribble for testing--it's that major)
+Starfleet Academy and Klingon Academy
+New Tutorials (both factions)
+Featured Series 4 (rumored to be Cardassian-centric)
