@Sorithal

The problem with F2P is a PvP sandbox is that victory will go those with the biggest RL wallets. Even a fremium option will scew game balance in that direction. Especially when you can purchase ships and ammo as this paper claims. Which IMO doesn't make it a game anymore...more of a rich man's hunting safari where game is player peasants and serfs.

It's actually arguable that the victory already goes to the ones with biggest RL wallets. Though, most of those RL wallets are made by RMT'ing botted ISK.

If you dont like it, then boycott the item mall; You can still play the game at a reasonable price.

I don't blame the devs/pubs for trying it. Either players will stand up and put a stop to it, or it will become the norm. If enough people put up with it to make it profitable why should the devs/pubs take the blame?

@Paradigm68 By that logic, you blame no one who does anything that is morally ambiguous so long as no one is brave enough to stop them. That is the most retarded thing I have ever heard.

@(Unverified) Its funny you start out with the phrase "By that logic" because you apply none. What is idiotic is equating the absolutely legal and widely accepted practice of RMT that is neither moral nor immoral, neither ethical nor unethical, to things that are moral or immoral, ethical or unethical.

Death of MMOs right here. They are just turning into money games. Sure gonna miss the days of exploration with friends and that's all it was about.

It's rather funny actually. They want to add micro (Ok at these prices "macro") transactions in order to boost profit. But it will actually cut their income in half if not more from subscription losses. (General estimation)

Well hopfully the company will split when they can no longer pay their employees and we'll get the half of the company that like evee they way it was to remake a game just like it. (Or continue the current one.) And the other half of the company can go work on farmville, if even they would take them.

@(Unverified) I think a more sound estimate would be that they're getting 1.1 new players for every die hard vet they lose.

At least they seem to have been having a slow steady growth for the past several years, and you've been able to purchase any item in the game with rl money for a while now.

@(Unverified) It would be awesome if CCP split and a team who have passion took EveOnline. However all the people who liked and played Eve left CCP a long time ago.

I still want WoD - but I'm afraid CCP has never been the right studio to do it. They've always been good at high flying pie-in-the-sky visions and extravagant press-releases, but looking at EVE and Incarna it's pretty apparent that they actually lack the link that connects that upper-management vision to reality of the actual game and community.

EVE is very much down the drain and all CCP seems to be doing is patting themselves on the back for being totally awesome.

And... have they actually shown *anything* about WoD. My vaporware sense is tingling.

@SgtBaker1234556 I think I read something saying they'll be revealing information about it during a WoD anniversary celebration or convention or something like that.
