Looks really good, apart from Finesse, which is certain to become the new Radiance.

@JohnLane So, does "lololol" mean "laughing out loud out loud out loud" or "laughing out laughing out laughing out loud"?

@JohnLane And why are you such a big SWToR fanboy if you don't like playing games with a story to which the ending is already known?

Let me summarize for you: the Sith do bad things, but get defeated. Centuries later they return. Anakin Skywalker is born and turns out to be quite the big shot in Sih circles, unbeknownst to his hot wife whom he met when he was only an annoying kid and she was a grown-up queen. He goes all emo and then he's baptised Darth Vader by his creepy old mentor who keeps the newly created Emperor title for himself. His wife can't handle all the emo and dies after giving birth to twins. One of these will grow up to be an annoying kid who has the hots for his princess sister but then goes all emo and kills his father's creepy old mentor. Vader dies as well. Ewoks rejoice. The end.

There. No need to play TEH Old Republic.

@Lenn Disclaimer: spelling and factual errors are really unintentional and unintentionally real, except for one.

I believe they need to release more info pertaining to the new stats. There still seem to be many unanswered questions.

@JohnLane I did read them, which is why I also know the game is not based on the movies but on the book. You should also understand that in the game you do not play as Frodo or Gandalf, you play as one of many men, elves, hobbits or dwarves. The story is what you make it within the boundaries laid down by Tolkien and Turbine, who have added quite a few storylines of their own.
If you like story-driven games, give LotRO a try. Seriously. You have nothing to lose but time.

I've never quite understood the reluctance of people to play a game or read a story based on some knowledge about how it will end. We all know how plenty of historical events turned out, but games, books and movies based around historical events are still very popular. Especially when the game itself isn't retracing what happened but dealing with events that were only lightly touched upon or not at all.

If you like fantasy MMOs, you should check out LotRO and at least give it a chance. It's incredibly solo friendly and I've genuinely enjoyed the questing and exploration aspects a lot more than some dedicated single player games. Of course there's plenty of group content, too, so if you're wanting to hit the dungeons or do the raids, those are there as well.

The big Rise of Isengard preorder promotions they have going on right now are a fantastic way to get into the game, too.

I know what you mean. I knew the story of Halo: Reach but playing the game to experience what happened was so great. I know the ring will be destroyed someday in LOTRO but it's about the journey, not the destination.

Yeah, I like the 'emo' action there, hadn't thought of it like that before. :D

Aaaaaanyway, I'm very happy that they're merging all the crit stats. Seperate crit stats always seem like overkill to me.

@pcgneurotic Agreed. They're good and much needed changes. I'm still of two minds about that whole Finesse thing, though.

@pcgneurotic Yeah, but of course I made a booboo. It's not the emo kid who kills the creepy old mentor, but emo kid's father, the former emo kid. Good thing I added a disclaimer to avoid the wrath of SW fanboys (of which I'm actually one, although of the not-too-emo kind) or Lucascourt Ltd.

Changes seem good on paper. I'm particularly excited for my Burglar now that Agility affects offensive attack.

@Lenn What he said.

Just want to also point out that Lotro is getting its info from the books, not the movies. And according to Turbine they not only got there info from the Lord of the Rings trilogy books from from other books that deal with middle earth.

Whenever I hear about a game going through major changes, I can't help feeling sympathetic for those to whom the change affects adversely.

@WyattEarp89 They're actually limited by the licenses they have. LotR and The Hobbit are owned by Tolkien Enterprises, but the rest of Tolkien's work (including The Silmarillion) is still firmly in the hands of the Tolkien Estate who aren't too keen on any popular cultural versions of Tolkien's work.

Turbine had to take some creative license with names of towns and outposts in particular. Gondamon and Noglond, for instance, are nowhere to be found in any of the books. Tolkien did mention dwarven settlements in Ered Luin, but Turbine wasn't allowed to use the names because they weren't in LotR or The Hobbit, so they made up their own names.

Are you suggesting that Anakin is not an emo kid?
