Patch 1.18 is going to contain a lot of content for Final Fantasy XIV, enough that the original launch date has required a delay. But looking at the latest preview of what's coming next, we think it might just be worth the wait. The first of the game's instanced battlefields has been fully unveiled on the official site, hinting at both the rewards as well as the locations of these dangerous yet profitable sites.
The Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak will be the lower-level of the two instances, with a minimum rank of 25 and a maximum party size of four. A former Gridanian prison, the halls of the cavern have been overrun with feral beasts and Garlean soldiers. For characters at rank 45 and up, the Dzemael Darkhold will offer up to eight party members greater challenges and greater rewards in a subterranean fortress of Ishgardian design. Final Fantasy XIV players can take a look at both of the official previews now on the Lodestone site.

I lost track of FFXIV, is it any better than what it was when released?

Yes. It still has quite a way to go, but it is certainly a superior experience to what it was at launch. The problem is that most of the really big changes needed are complex and dig deep into the code. It takes a lot of time to get them ready, but 1.18 looks to be the first big chunk of the important stuff.

60 minutes time limit coupled with the slow-arse combat, I don't think we should expecting these two dungeons to have much content, at least when compared to the dungeons of other games.

Yeah I'd way rather spend all day in a dungeon. Really the best content FFXI had was on a 30 min time limit (nyzul/assault).

It's grim when you have to LOOK FORWARD TO a feature that has been in every MMO for the past 6 years. Let alone one that still seems to use the outdated and horrible mechanics that FFXI imposed on them like fucking time limits. Oh SE, you really don't learn do you?

@Jennacide Yeah, this game is completely hilarious on every level.
Sometimes I'll read about it and the sheer level of buffoonery will cause my vision to blur. Then again I was one of the poor suckers that preordered the damn thing. Still kicking myself for that.

You never know, unlike in FFXI, SE is at least making an attempt to listen to the players. Hopefully the "60 minute time limit" will be like their "no exp for quest rewards" and be removed in the next patch after the players scream and yell.
Then again, FFXIV has time limits all over the game. I hate time limits.

I patched the game a couple days ago in order to give it another look since I hadn't played it since just after launch.
It is still horrible. I wish it wasn't and willceheck it out again in a few months once the combat system has been revamped.

The official site states that the party requirements are 4 players for the Rank 25 dungeon. This makes it fall in to the category of a "Light Party" Which can have 4-7 players in the party. The Rank 50 dungeon requires 8 players which is called a "Full Party".

Did I read that right, a 60min time limit on a dungeon? In a game that is in dire need of fresh and engaging content to stay alive?
I swear, I do love coming to rad FF14 news every now adn then, its like stepping into a time machine into the past, and read about all the ways to screw up your MMO.

Sweeeeeeet! But wait I just realized I don't understand. I am guessing this current time of F2P on pc is the re-beta limbo?
Would I be correct in assuming that we PS3 users don't (as of yet) really have a concrete timetable to expect XIV in?

in as much as that PC gamers don't have a time table either.
the official statement on the PS3 release is "not until we have the game in an acceptable state on the PC."
