The one thing I hope is for Turbine to open up the lifetime offer again with this expansion :)

BTW, I'm delaying my pre-order due to the amount of goodies. 15 cosmetic slots used if we order the Legendary package, ouch! Since I don't want the XP bonus, and don't need the steeds or cosmetics right now, I'll wait a couple months before ordering.

For the love of god Turbine, fix your rendering engine! In such a beautiful game those terribly distracting objects that "pop up" throughout every bit of scenery are horrible to look at. It's been happening since I was in the original beta and Turbine has actually told me personally it's an issue in the engine and we can't fix it. That answer isn't good enough. You can but you won't is the truth.

I love the game, love the lore, love the visuals...but the "hitching" and the "pop ins" of trees and other objects changing into high res textures from their 2d sprite versions is so unfortunate.

And yes my PC is super powerful and I run it at Ultra-High and get 60FPS with V-Sync. It runs at high FPS and looks beautiful, but has bad coding in the engine and that creates the pop-ins I'm speaking of that everyone gets. Yes, everyone. Turbine has admitted to me that know about the problem so please don't try to tell me that it's my settings or my drivers need to be updated. I am an IT Professional and have extensive knowledge of these things and it's the ENGINE, period.

Don't take this the wrong way, a lot of MMO's have this problem from lazy coders, but I LOVE this MMO and it bothers me that they haven't addressed it's graphical performance for years.

@C Rose Rewriting the game engine is a lot harder than you think. It would take an enormous amount of time an effort, and would take developers away from doing things like, say, developing new content.

I would rather new content than a new game engine.

@C Rose

I've been wishing for a new software engine from Turbine for years and more so once Funcom redid theirs and it really improved Age of Conan. Lord of the Rings still is the most beautifully painted game out there, they just need to spend a bit and improve their engine. If Funcom who I am not impressed with as a game company can do it, then surely Turbine a much better company can do so.

Agreed. And I do understand it's not an easy thing to fix, BUT like I said it's been horrible since beta in '07. So it was always a bad engine and sloppy coding. Re-writing a new engine and then converting the game over would be difficult but not impossible by any means. And also it wouldn't break the bank either.

They're going to need to develop new MMO's I'd imagine and therefore they will need a new engine. So start to develop it now and then port over LotRO when's it ready. The main feature of the engine that needs fixing is simply one small thing, "MODEL DETAIL". Which determines how far from your character 3D objects are drawn. The problem is that as of now at Ultra-High I can see things yards in front of me "Popping" into high-res 3D models, while objects in the far distance are drawn already 100's of yards away.

They need to simply adjust the draw distance of the settings for "Model Detail" from close up with Very Low settings to extremely far with the Ultra-High settings.

If I stand still and look out, then take a couple of small steps and see a tree or building popping back and forth between high-res and low-res it's a real problem. Adjusting the "MODEL DETAIL" simply makes that same object glitch like that when I go back a little bit farther.

I know it's to help it run better on low-end machines from 4-5 years ago, but Ultra-High settings should adjust it so people nowadays don't have that problem. The LoD bias (Level of Design) in games from the last 10 years was THE WORST aspect of game design. It's ugly and distracting to an otherwise incredible game.

They definitely have some crazy overdraw issues, Moria is really good example of how bad they can get sometimes.

I'm just worried that any rewrite of the graphics engine is going to change the look of the environment. Which is actually very well done.

Although I wouldn't be opposed to them tearing out the microsoft mouse SDK, and replacing it with something decent.

Hrm, I reinstalled last week when Isengard became avail for pre-order, but even after running around a bit and talking the community, I still just can't get into it. I've really tried, but I'd rather wait on the next wave of MMOs and RPGs than bother with this again.

Especially the character models and animations! They looks so bad, even more so now that I've got it running on DX11 Ultra High.

Just bought an EVGA GTX 580, upgraded from an EVGA GTX 275, and I was only getting like 18-24fps with everything on ultra high in DX10 mode. I tried it again last night and seriously holy crap, I'm holding steady with 110-130fps now, sometimes it dips into the 80-90 range, but still....DAMN...best purchase ever!

Anyway, at those settings, the horrible character models look even worse, I just can't do it...heh!

@Khalus I don't know what you are calling bad character models. I went wit hthe GTX 570...and I get, on max settings/DX11, around 200 normally in the world. In towns it dips to 170.

In the moors on max, with a full group of Freeps on Creeps, I still stay above 100 FPS.

As for what you say looks bad, I have no idea as I now see the game far better than I did and if Swtor falls, I'll be making this game my main.

"In my opinion, three months of a fairly regular play schedule is enough time to fully level up a character."

I sure hope so, because I am no where near the cap. Don't even know what skirmishes are. There's still a ton of things I don't know, but I hope I'll be ready for Isengard when it comes. The 25% exp boost from the pre-order is a great boon atm.

I think the only real obstacle in me (finally, after over a year of hanging at 55) getting to level 65 is getting through Moria in one piece. I'm not sure why, but as much as I love the scenery and enjoy the story of it and such, it just burns me out before I can finish it.

Yea you are not alone with the books. I still need to finish book two and book three, since my kinship is no longer on my server I it is harder for me to get these done. That and I have not been in any of the new raids, last raid I did was in Moria, lol.

@WyattEarp89 : Quick tip, once you get near the end of the third book and the company starts to break up and go back to their homes, STOP READING.

Terrible Book Ending is Terrible.

Don't forget that buying skirmish soldier traits that are above your character's level costs proportionally more skirmish marks.

If players plan to save up skirmish marks before Isengard, it will be most economical for them to spend those marks after their characters have reached maximum level, and not immediately when the expansion launches.
