It's almost Incarna time for residents of CCP's New Eden, and EVE Online's website has been updated with a brief blurb warning users to prepare for some extended downtime on patch day.
The update process is scheduled to last for 14 hours on Tuesday, June 21st, so make sure you've got some long-haul skills in your training queue this Monday. Incarna version 1.0 is bringing the much-ballyhooed captain's quarters patch to EVE, and it represents the first step towards fully functional space station interiors. The update will also feature a new tutorial experience (though the familiar voice of Aura isn't going anywhere) as well as new agent finder and corporation recruitment tools.
CCP says that full patch notes are in the works, and in the meantime, you can join the forum discussion at the official EVE website.

after all those years sealed up in a pod I will bet that sales of soap and air freshener will go through the roof :)

@Arsinek How is holding a button (W, uparrow) much different than clicking a button (mouse 1)?
Combat isn't twitch based. Interactions outside of combat just about never require manually "moving" somewhere as opposed to using your ship's computer and telling it to go there.
I can understand many reasons for not liking Eve but this is one that confuses me. It is like asking why the controls in Star Craft are not more like the controls in Half Life.

Looking forward to the update, it a small step forward towards their original plan to have human avatars walking around. Though I believe part of that was the possibility of doing so on planets, I just hope that vision does not end with DUST 514. I am still taken aback by atmospheric flight video in 06 so I hope they revisit the idea.

Can't wait to see some epic forum whining when people realize how lame this is going to be.

Why do people do this? Why do people read articles about subjects they clearly have no interest in then decide to leave such a negative comment?
You know what? I hate McDonald's, but I don't run into one and tell everyone how much I hate the food every chance I get.
I'm well aware of Freedom of Speech, speaking your mind, giving your feedback, whatever you want to call it, but that doesn't mean its ok. If you don't like something, how hard is it to just ignore it and move on and let the rest of us have our fun?
Every time I read a comment like this, it just feels like someone is trying ruin the mood for everyone else.
Also @Sean D
LOL nice

@PrimeSynergy
Don't underestimate the fun of ruining the mood for everyone else ;-)
At any case, lot of the "whining" comes from the fact that some people like EVE as it is and would rather see that part of the game being developed instead of pouring sprint after sprint into something that only has a vague promise of being functional "sometime in the future".
But yeah, big step for EVE and CCP. I hope they can roll out some gameplay elements soon.

Apparently it's just the Minmatar-style CQ being released, so no matter which station you visit, your CQ will have that dumpy Minmatar look until they actually release the other races' designs. Lame lame lame.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about that...I still hope I am.
lol I'm a super casual Eve player and I'm already bitter about this thing.

It's getting there, getting there. One day the door into the spacestation will open too.

I still don't know why I'd want to walk around as a person. I'm here to fly internet spaceships. Interacting with station services and other players is far more efficient if you're _not_ trying to simulate RL with having to walk places, interact with a RL style UI (e.g. virtual meeting rooms with virtual whiteboards), etc. I don't want to have to use a virtual avatar to control a bloody virtual meeting. I just want to meet, and a simple text chat and VoIP service is easiest.
