Personally, I think that it's a mistake to link the game to the show -- that just gives you several more things that can go wrong. If they were starting with an established show already with a following, I could see it. But I really think that Trion is making a mistake here.

Honestly, video games do not spawn good stories, and for the most part, neither do shows from the SyFy channel (with the obvious exception of BSG). I mean, it would be great if both succeed, but if either fails, I can easily see it bringing the other one down with it.

John Riccitiello (EA CEO) explained in an interview that there are two reasons to not have set a release date.
One was to not create opportunities for competitors and the second was that they do not know how long a beta would run and they want to listen to the replies from participants.

As the hardest competitor I would see Blizzard but not only with an expansion announcement for WoW. If they are able to place Diablo 3 against SWTOR I can see a much bigger amount of players not buying SWTOR at release and so a hefty hit before a community could even be established in the latter.

So Massively, how about some info on the game: Estar Wars of Religion

Aside from a really dumb name, the just released trailer for the game is very interesting indeed. Mixed sci-fi & fantasy setting? Giant flying things with ships on their backs? Regular tech flying ships? Mounted combat? Really good graphics and the aerial ship-to-ship combat is pretty amazing looking. Need more info please!
