Rusty Hearts looks to have some promise in it. And RaiderZ is pretty much knockoff TERA

@Alex Oglitchkin

- Tera has classes, Raiderz does not.
- Tera is your usual grind, but non-targeted. Raiderz focus is bosses, crafting and guilds
- Tera is made by unknown team, Raiderz is made by the person who created Gunz.

So yeah in conclusion: Tera is nothing like Raiderz.

Two different games.

@Kitanishi Being made by the people that made Gunz is enough reason to give it a miss imo.

@Kitanishi Without classes you get imbalances if pvp will be in the game. Being able to do more than 1 role does that.

Last time I checked majority of MMOs are about guilds, crafting, and killing bosses to get the good stuff.

Also Gunz was a trash game that never made it anywhere.

Hmm, so you are basically wildly attacking the arguments instead of countering them? :>

concession accepted.

@Azules

What was so wrong with Gunz? I actually enjoyed the game.

And Alex, its rather early to be assuming much isn't it? Barely any info out, and yet you can gleam off more than enough info to make an unbiased opinion? Doubt it.
Also define "roles", because frankly even class games have characters with multiple roles and yet they do just fine.

And "Guilds, crafting, and killing bosses" is a damn broad term. If its like Monster Hunter, the focus though is on those 3 things. Banding together, killing greater and more vicious foes, and then using their body parts to craft new gear.
That simple sentence applies to damn near every game out there. Hell, even Oblivion fits, since you can join guilds in it, and killing bosses gets you better gear, and hell there's crafting too!

@Kitanishi

Yeah, you shouldn't play the "facts" game if you're going to get stuff wrong.

Bluehole Studio consists of Ex-NCSoft/Lineage II developers. So, yeah I'd say they're pretty experienced at making MMO's :P.

And yeah... maker of Gunz... MAIET Entertainment is pretty new, given Gunz is their only title so far. We'll see how good they are, especially since most Western MMO players haven't even heard of Gunz yet (I know I didn't until now :P).

Plus, you should go look up some information on TERA Online before you list things TERA has, cause you failed horribly...

TERA is focusing on PvE w/ Raids and Bosses, with Political-based PvP. AFAIK, the two games look the same combat mechanic-wise.

PWE is really upping the ante on F2P games. So many of them now are comparable to the so-called AAA titles. Rusty Hearts looks like a total blast with a great anime art style I actually like for once (I've been waiting for the beta with bated breath since I first saw the trailer back in February or March) and Raiderz just looks and sounds absolutely amazing. I might even give Blacklight a shot even though FPSs usually aren't my personal cup of tea. Before Global Agenda and APB I didn't think TPSs were all that fun, so I look forward to being similarly proven wrong by Blacklight.

Of course, there will always be the snobs who see F2P and automatically think "standard boring grindfest", but I expect the rest of the market that actually plays games instead of whining about them from on high will embrace them much as they have PWE's other games. I know I likely will.

On the other hand... Damn you, PWE, I don't need more games to play!!! ARGH!!! I already have serious HD problems because I made the Bootcamp partition of my mac too small! Not to mention there's just not enough time, especially with Skyrim coming out in November!!

Damn you all to hell!!!

YOu think thats upping the ante?

Wait for next year when pwe unveils their first sandbox title with plans on bringing it to ps3 too.

Oh and PWE will also publish and run Torchlight Online, once its done :)

I didn't know that they'd be publishing Torchlight Online. That's awesome!

Are you serious about the sandbox? I haven't heard anything about that.

I like how they've turned a classic online shooter hack into a valid gameplay element - I mean the long-distance map vision thing in Blacklight.

@pcgneurotic To be fair, Zombie Studios did that in the first game, Blacklight: Tango Down, without PWE, so it wasn't really their idea, but still a good one. I for one am glad to see them getting another chance at Blacklight. The first one had a lot of promise, but was marred with issues, as I understand it. I look forward to trying this when it decides to come out.

All three of those titles look worth a go. It's nice to have a heavy-weight like PWE pushing the F2P market forward.

I would not put it any where near quality of western MMOs, but they are good F2P alternatives. The fact they are F2P also hurts the game.

Granted non of these are MMOs, they are multi player games with a fancy lobby system. But its nice to see some new titles.

Good to hear Rusty Hearts might be bloody good, I'll have to definitely try it out.

And RaiderZ... Raiders... its like Monster Hunter mashed up with other games, with the brutalness I've always wished it had. You have no clue how many times I wish I could grab a Rathian tail and smack her across the head with the poisonous thing and see how she likes it...

My complaint with Perfect World in the past was how similar their games were. Nice to see them doing a bunch of unique games.

Raiderz really shows off what the mmo industry has to offer, and as a bonus it's a f2p game.

Hopefully there's one good thing casual games can be good for. Maybe perfect world can put a smaller version of rusty hearts on facebook with a link to their gaming website. Other companies like gamerfirst can do this too. But in the end it's so much easier for the word of mmo's to spread with the help of journalist like massively. Massively might not have the skills to make a game but I think it would go along way to get more money into the industry. Maybe some other company might use this idea and also recognize a large site like massively on facebook as well. There's probably tons of people out there that would be willing to give mmo's a try that just haven't met anyone that knows about them.

The only downside is with all the f2p companies making clones of each other, it becomes hard for game developers with innovative ideas to get the investments they need. I would rather the game industry move more towards more man power for projects that are quality over quantity.

Rusty Hearts sounds great. I love all anime styles, so this game will be like heaven to me. (Wished FMA ps2 games were for pc)

Blacklight is going to be a bigger franchise than any of you think. Film and comic being produced by Fox Atomic. PWE bought the F2P rights for this game.
