I may not like the actual game design, or the fact that a lot of the mobs looked to be re-used from other areas, but, damn

Credit where credit's due, the environment design was pretty nifty, as was the boss design.

@Dril Damn right... I quit this game, but you still have to give them props to the art team with new boss models and the actual instance design. Its too bad Blizzard has all but given up trying to push content at a decent pace. One has to wonder, if Trion can do it, why can't blizzard?

So PvE'ers are getting their next tier of gear.
Where is the new rank gear for PvP? I heard word of a slight buff to existing PvP gear. Uh... that's it? That's not going to cut it. Sorry.
I'll tell you what, if a PvE Raider gets in a warfront, and chews up rank 6 gear'ed people, there will be a lot of pissed people. EVEN if its just for a month or however long it takes Trion to roll the patch after.

PvP gear should ALWAYS beat PvE gear in PVP. No exceptions.

Not cool Trion. Not cool. They're on very thin ice with me.
I am not playing or paying to stroke a raiders ego.

If you're playing Rift for PvP I don't think there was any ice to begin with...

Obviously you haven't played the game as you would know that PvE gear does not beat PvP gear in PvP ever. It's called the Valor stat (think Resilience).

But back on topic, this raid looks awesome, and I wasn't expecting the release date to be so soon. That's what I really love about Trion, they pump out the content faster than any dev I've ever seen.

Not hard to do when they apparently have a base of 20 enemy models in game and re-use them everywhere.

It's sad that a game with so much potential became yet another Raid or Die Epeen fest.

Rift has the most non-raid content I've seen in an MMO. Artifacts, PvP, achievements, dynamic events, 5 man dungeons and rifts, dailies, rep grinds, crafting rifts, etc.

So I'm not really sure what you're talking about.

You've not seen a lot of MMOs I take it? Off the top of my head:

LOTRO
EQ2
WoW (depends how you want to look at this, there's not much variety in things to do other than raid but for the side-paths that are available, there's a lot of content)
Vanguard
AoC (ya rly)
Aion

Are all the relatively recent themeparks that have raiding in some capacity and have a lot of stuff to do, and I'm not even including sandboxes, PvP games and pre-2004 games.

This relates to what I said in my first comment: I don't like the game design Rift has where there's not really all that much to do (time-investment wise) apart from raid. WoW suffers from this as well, although as I said it does (more or less) edge Rift in terms of time you can devote to it.

I'd imagine if you only play about 10 hours max per week Rift could have a lot to do, but for people who play a lot more it's pretty sparse.

EQ2 has the most non-raid content in an MMO. The game is flat out MASSIVE.

Okay, so you're terrible at this whole internet thing on a few counts:

1. I haven't played EQ2, and he said of any MMO he'd SEEN, which also rings true for me. Learn to read for Christ's sake.

2. I sincerely doubt EQ2 had as much going on as it does now, at this stage of its development, which is again beside the point because of point number 1.

3. The guy made a couple of posts, and it isn't really my fault that you chose to pick the last statement he made as though it were his only post - not even mentioning that you saw a statement that didn't exist (IE me, saying no other game has X, rather than agreeing with a statement that limits such a truth to MY EXPERIENCES only, yet again resulting from your comprehension failure where reading is concerned). Again, the skim-reading not working out so well for you.

4. This also applies to you, Dril.

@NeverDeath If you spent half the energies you funneled into that idiotic post on properly reading the comments you were replying to you wouldn't have been grayed out, had the lot of us jump on your back, and most importantly been spared the wasted usage of the other half of the energies you funneled into that idiotic post.

Viscous Circle. And for the record, I pulled a page out of your book and didn't bother to the read the comment I'm replying to.

Do you really take such offence at being educated/proven wrong?

Your statement RELATIVE TO YOUR EXPERIENCES may be true.

But, in an absolute sense, it's totally wrong, because there are lots of other games with way more content than Rift. Thus, using my experience (which it seems is a lot more than yours) I can safely say I don't agree. It's called discussion , you might want to try it some time without having a little tantrum.

Also: "Okay, so you're terrible at this whole internet thing on a few counts:"

Bahahahaha. Coming from you that's richer than Bill Gates.

Anyway:

2) What the hell do development cycles have to do with the amount of content that is *already in the game*? They still pump out expansions on, at the very least, a yearly basis, and that still doesn't detract from the fact that there is a lot f stuff already there and, get this, a lot of it is still relevant due to mentoring and/or being non-combat related.

3) What's the other statement? PvP gear in Rift? I'd like to use your (totally failed) point of: "relevance?" Whatever your experience is, great for you. But, objectively, the principle is wrong.

4) Thanks, I am quite capable of reading (although you seem to be suggesting neither me nor Vagrant Zero are, which is quite ironic, all things considered.)

"Viscous" circle? LOL. So a thick, gelatinous/adhesive circle... Has what to do with anything? Please, don't call anyone else idiotic, it's just pissing in the wind. I'm not concerned with being "grayed out", because I realize that most people in the world (especially on the internet) are crybabies and imbeciles. I read everything that was directed at me, but you missed the entire point of why everything you said was based on an assumption, which of course turned out to be wrong, as assumptions so often are.

Thanks for the laughs.

"Relative to my experiences" would be the entire foundation of everything I said (skim reading for the loss imo), and thus you have not educated nor proven me wrong at any point. You should be more careful to read posts before you respond to them before you go making huge mistakes and looking stupid... again.

Again you fail to read my posts, where I said not that RIFT has more content than any game ever, but that it has more to do than any game I've ever played at this stage in its development. New MMOs are notorious for having a dearth of content both leveling and at end-game, it's a hallmark of the genre just like unstable launches and whiny forum-goers. Again, I missed EQ2 because I didn't much care for EQ1, besides the advances it made for the genre it just wasn't my thing. I respect EQ1 in the way that I respect Iron Maiden - They did great things for metal, and it likely wouldn't be the way it is today without them, but I don't listen to Maiden all day because half of their stuff is forgettable and "filler" tracks.

Oooh richer than BIll Gates, he's clever, folks. Give him a round of applause! Or at least a backscratcher so he can pat himself on the back.

Development cycles have everything to do with it, because anyone who expects a new MMO to come out and have as much/more content, as big/a bigger game-world with as many/more races and so on, as a game that has been out for many years, is expecting something completely unrealistic and is therefore a fool. It's like comparing a brand new actor to an accomplished oscar-winner and saying that the new actor who hasn't even been on the scene for more than a couple of years sucks/will never make it just because the experienced actor has been doing movies for 35 years.

I never said anything about PvP gear in RIFT. Christ, first you can't even read a simple statement and now you're mixing people's quotes together, no wonder you're so enraged, you either mistake me for somebody else or are hallucinating. I'd be pissed off if I had figments attacking my brain and winning the war, as well.

LOL. I'm sure you're capable. To some lesser capacity, as you've demonstrated numerous times in that brilliant post of yours. Pick someone to troll against whom you can prevail next time so you don't end up looking so damned stupid in contrast.
