With four different maps to choose from and a number of pre-fight variables, the Duel Areas are limited at the moment by the fact that only deathmatch games are available within. Killing opponents will reward players with PvP experience, leading to valuable rewards for future PvP matches. Check out the video previews for two of the new arenas just after the break, something that should be enough to get Hellgate players excited as the game moves toward release.

No matter how bad the environmental conditions might be in Hellgate, that's no reason to eschew one of the time-honored traditions of MMOs everywhere: PvP. But the game's relaunch won't just be including the original PvP elements, and one of the newer additions has just been highlighted -- the Duel Areas. This new addition allows players to face off against one another on specially designed maps, complete with dynamic elements on each map to keep battles unique.

I've heard a lot of bad things about Hellgate.
But to be honest, that didn't look all that bad. The character actually moved very well. I didn't see a lot of hitching and the enviroment didn't look all that bad as a beta.
All in all, I think I would much prefer this type of world to the warehouse world of Global Agenda.

WoW's graphics are cool, and a nice, homogenous style. But very far from being the best mmo gfx out there, not by a loooong shot.

Again missing my point.
What I am saying is obviously WoW has inferior graphics however it has the largest subscriber base.
So as a result I do not understand why someone here would say the game games graphics are bad. Clearly that opinion is no indicator of anything worth mentioning.

The remarks about sub-par graphics would be put to rest if they would simply make the already existing DX10 client available for those that want to use it, since it offers noticeable improvements such as motion-blur, field of view blurring effects, improved particle effects (DX10 "Smoke" mode) better bumpmaps on textures, better reflections on armor and glass such as windows and it runs even better than DX9 mode does on my system. The DX10 shaders orginally used were really ahead of their time, yet they seem to want tot throw them away and just needlessly endure the "dated graphics" comments.
I see no reason they couldn't make it available as an option for those of us who want it.
Having said that, I actually think the DX9 client at max settings looks pretty good even in comparison to recent games. For some reason the graphics don't seem to come across that well in the gameplay videos floating around, and are much better when actually playing firsthand. I mean, it's no Alliance of Valiant Arms but its not as bad as people are making it out to be.

Great game, glad it is back. I love all the people that bash this game that really never gave it a chance. I hope now they will actually try it since it is free.

@(Unverified) It's always been on my list of regrets in terms of games I never tried (followed swiftly by tabula rasa and Matrix online) So I'm really anxious to play it, however, the downloader was really inconsistant and I couldn't get it downloaded before closed beta ended.
Can't wait for OBT though :D
