@hereafter Thanks for the info. Perhaps Blur should have done the in-game animation as well.

Two things I took away from this video.

1. Zap. Zap. Zap. Zap. Zap. Whirlwind. Zap. Zap. Zap. Not something that I would call all that dynamic or heroic in terms of combat, but that's just me.

2. After watching the ending/cliffhanger, I'm wondering if BioWare is going to get a free pass about using zombies/zombie-like enemies in a Star Wars game, or if players are going to have a fit like they did when it was included in SWG. LOL

Who said anything about AI? What I was referring to was the spamming of one attack ad nauseum by the person controlling the Sith character.

If you're going to claim that your game has heroic or dynamic combat to it, you don't show that by spamming one attack. It came across to me as a bit dull, that's all.

Granted, in most MMOs you can't get away from spamming attacks, it tends to be a part of gameplay. But even when I do so, I mix up the specials I use as often as I can, just to keep it from becoming boring and ponderous.

Anyone else notice that the sorcerer had like 10% hp after killing 3 sand people in the beginning? Every other class I've seen do the same fight stomped in there and almost had full hp at the end.

I was kind of expecting/hoping to see some Sorcerer healing besides an out-of-combat health reboot. It's one of the things I'm looking forward to most about the class to be honest.

My thoughts: I don't like how you are being forced to use a companion, I mean, every other player around the same level as me who is my class is going to have the same companion!! ..That is unless they give you some kind of choice (Which I haven't seen). And even then it seems kind of weird that you're not being allowed to do your own thing. I'm surprised i've not seen anyone else bring up this issue yet.

And I bet 80% of players will mainly play Jedi and Sith like in SWG.
Speaking of SWG, the colour scheme of the UI and colours of damage done and exp gained are all the same as in SWG.

@Mattx0x I don't like that they're trying to sell companions as a bold new spin on design. Pets aren't a wild new feature, guys.

People have brought that up, many times. You will have a choice of companions. Probably not as much in the beginning, but by the end there will be as many as 10 companions to choose from, from what we suspect.

Actually, according to a recent interview, 5 companions +1.

The "+1" is a bit of a "free" companion everyone gets with their player ship and it is a droid.

Bioware has a thread getting comments if players want more companions.

From a video done several months ago, that talks about crafting and companions, it states you can have "up to 5 companions working on your craft station".

I'd be alright with 6 +1. But note, all companions are unique, none get shared between classes. Bioware could change this, if they are strapped for time before launch and give classes access to other classes companions. I suggested possibly saving such for a later expansion pack.

BTW, the 1st KOTOR game, had 9 companions. But, really, VO's and work on 9 companions x classes would almost be double. TOO MUCH work at this stage of the game.

At this time, 5 +1 is fine with me, although I'd welcome one more.

Holy bloody hell!

"Go kill 3 Sand People to get a compass."

*use compass*

"Go to cave, kill sand people in the cave until you find body at the back of said cave."

*narrative quest babble*

"Go to back of cave to 'use' writing on wall to find location."

It's exactly like other freakin' MMORPG's, expect for the extra bit of individual dialog for quests in between the "Kill 10 Rats" crap.

Oh, and no way in HELL did that combat even look the slightest Heroic as Bioware originally presented their game to be. What crack are they smoking to decide to turn the game into another WoW? The Sith Sorcerer had a lightsaber, but not once even used the damned thing when the enemy came close to him!

Not gonna have to wait that long, actually. Tera, Blade & Soul, Guild Wars 2...

Quite frankly, I think this gamble is completely insane. An EQ/WoW-clone with a few updated bits is exactly what the game industry *doesn't* need more of. Haven't we learned from the last dozen already? Sigh...

@Zyrusticae Guild Wars 2 is the only one you mention that has a chance to actually be better than TOR and Guild Wars 2 has thus far easily been as hyped if not more than TOR. All Guild Wars 2 right now has had is hype.

@Zyrusticae

I played both Tera and SW:TOR at E3 this week. TOR was more fun, I think. Tera was okay, but it's just repeatedly right and left clicking while hitting spacebar to shoot of suggested combos. It was okay, but kind of repetitive.

In contrast, playing a Sniper in TOR was a lot more strategic and satisfying. As was the Assassin.

Yes, TOR is a traditional MMO, but people are getting it wrong when they call it a WoW clone. Did you know Tera is using the same old quest text system as WoW. Yeah, actual cutscenes and conversations areWAY better than that.

@FrostPaw Yes, you can choose your lightsaber colour. You fit a colour crystal into your lightsaber and that determines what colour it is.

Think they forget about the footprint and the sand breeze that get blown from the speeder booster. Or are they going to forget about it too cos it is hard to put in. Even WOW 7 years old game have that lol.,

@Dol

depends on how much polish they have left. Rumor is a November release, so there's still time to implement improvements if they're already working on them.
