You obviously didn't notice all those fade-outs. Those are the boring bits. Basically every half hour you *might* see some nice dialogue, but its still a kill 10 mmo

Of course it's edited down, the video is already 11 minutes long. What kind of person is going to be lame enough to want to watch a 45 minute video of someone else playing a game? Who wants to watch them travel all the way from point A to B where nothing is going on?

@CCon99 heh i guess you missed the other version of this quest with the dev walkthrough from the live feed that was posted a cpl days ago. In answer to your question, I am lame enough ..apparently :( That's exactly what it was lol..this quest with nothing edited. All the traveling, the getting lost, the killing 20 sand people etc etc ..still looked fun imo.

What alot of people don't get is that many of us ARE looking for a fun engaging MMO that doesn't change everything, but instead takes the core gameplay we already are familiar with and makes it fun again.

every half hour? really? well that beats the hell out of every few hours to days in every other MMO.

@BigAndShiny I agree with you that this MMO will mostly contain the same old Fantasy MMO quests. I'm quoting you become obviously people are in denial and don't want to hear it.

I also agree with you folks, as all the blind, overhyping fanboys (likely the same ones that said Warhammer would crush Warcraft) are now White Knighting every aspect of this console game turned PC MMO. Whilst I can appreciate the "Kill These Enemies" quests (they ARE staples), everyone's treating this game like the 2nd coming of Jesus. It's not.

I've seen gameplay videos. I've seen all the demos. It's a Star Wars cash-in MMO that all the Star Wars loving Tweens, IE, the ones that stuck around after Episode 1 and thought Episode 1 - 3 were good movies, are tooting at the greatest thing ever, and voting everyone down that doesn't say "OMG R0XX0R B0XX0R!". Just like saying anything bad about DA2 before it launched (how'd that work out by the way?), just like saying Rift would never rival WoW.

Here's the formula folks. The more you hype a game, the easier the devs take it. They cash in on the success of the hype, and either force a release early, or release it half-arsed to cash-in quickly on the acclaim. Besides, you're jumping for joy over a game that holds all your work hostage monthly, and will likely still make you pay for expansion packs, extra continent, and (EA willing!), DLC/Cash Shop items and Upgrades (Warhammer Online anyone?). It's just... stupid.

I believe the issue you are bumping into are people with unrealistic expectations which seems to be a common thing these days, as opposed to waiting to see and judging the game on it's own merits.

That said, I can't say I expected anything more of TOR than a solid storyline and given that I play MMO's for the storyline (not PVP, not Raids, I like story, I live for story...) *THIS* mmo and my time in beta so far has been excellent *FOR ME*.

But seriously, there's nothing new under the sun folks.. everyone should realize that by now. Games are repetition, the real question is weather or not it's repetition you enjoy. If you expect a game to *NOT* borrow elements (and even entire facets) from what's come before it and you expect a game to *NOT* have some elements of repetition then you're just setting yourself up for disappointment.

So as I play any beta (and I've been in quite a few) I think to myself.. "it borrows elements from this, this, and that.. does it do it well or is it sloppy? Could it do a better job than "X" game which did it too? How can they refine that to make it work better for the player" Then it's off to the tester forums to post my ideas / opinions...

For people who claim to have played it and didn't like it, well the choice is simple, don't buy it. As for me, I think between TOR and GuildWars2 I'll be pretty content with my MMO playing for a while to come.

Looks great now if they would just give us a release date. I would even be happy with an open beta 8D

@shazz I doubt that this game could survive an open beta. Their best bet is to obfuscate the gameplay and hope for the best release they can manage.

Yeah, as much as I'm looking forward to SWTOR I wouldn't call it genre-changing. It's more like RIFT, taking the best parts of past MMOs and improving on them. The most unique thing about it is the presentation of the story, with characters being able to control the path of the story to some degree. But considering the overhead necessary to do what they did there, I don't see it being repeated very often in the future.

5 million volts? Seem excessive. The human heart stops when between .5-.7 amps are applied, minimum. having 5 million volts course through someone may or may not result in shutting them up. Take for instance if the surface they are standing or sitting on is non conductive, wasted energy and a hefty electric bill for nothing.

Also if the current is AC and does not carry the proper amperage, (DC voltage is much easier to manipulate)...Your wasting time and money.

What you need to ensure is the person in question has a high salt diet, send them copious amounts of salty potato chips, this ensures better conductivity, that done, remove any non conductive material they may be standing on and have some circuitry that will boost actual amperage to upwards of say 500 or so, remember amperage, not volts is what does the damage. A 9 volt battery stepped to 50 thousand volts and juicing 500 amps will do nicely.

Now to figure in your cost savings........ at .00325 cents per killowat hour (1/3rd of a cent per kilowatt hour roughly) 5 millions volts for a 1 second burst will cost you 17 thousand dollars and change, the 9 volt battery and associated circuitry will run you 300 bucks, look at the cost savings!

Silly people, not figuring out the cost of trolling properly (grin)

@prot Why does something need to be radically different to be better? Just seems like you're whining for the sake of whining.
