As much as I love STO - and I really, REALLY love it - it'll be SO nice to get back to the regular timeline. Phew!

@pcgneurotic STO is based in the Prime Universe. Not sure if you just mean in the DS9 time frame or what.

@Mainer82

Yeah, I should have phrased it differently really, that's what I meant. :D

..and I was going to say, Klingons as enemies again? Then I saw... Dominion as allies! Could be really good!

@pcgneurotic Those ships aren't Dominion, they are Cardassian. Besides, if the Dominion teamed up with the Federation, the Klingons wouldn't stand a chance.

@Daemodand

Yah, I realised my mistake after I'd posted. Damn the lack of an Edit button. Still, the Cardies and the Dominion were allies, so it's pretty much the same thing anyway.

For someone with Spock as his portrait you sure said a lot of goofy things in this article...

Interesting that other sources say Summer 2011 and yet Brandon says "end of 2011". But, I can see that.

There were many references to this on Beta (and after-Beta) boards by those dissatisfied with STO. I am only speculating, but it does not seem like these people will even be happy with this game. I say that because most of those folks don't like f2p/browser games. It is also interesting while this game does have exploration, most of it is done in your ship.

In fact, while it seems like you can walk around space stations, there are not any planetary Away missions.

I suspect there will be a group of Trek fans who will like this game and specific time-period. As to action, we'll see. As to PvP, that has to be seen, too, for PvP-fans.

While there are in-game pics, there is still very little actual information about gameplay or in-game videos.

@Space Cobra

And I will add, I'll probably be giving this game a good try. I mean, heck, f2p, right? ;P

@Space Cobra Most Star Trek fans, like Lord of the Rings fans, will never be satisfied until someone makes the most mundane game filled with the most menial of tasks.

@Space Cobra I see the sources say this too but it was not the complete impression we got when we spoke to them at E3 ;)

Engagieren = to hire somebody. When Picard tells the crew to start the engines, in German he says "Energie!"

Anyway. I'd heard a short part of a presentation during Cologne's Roleplay Convention but we didn't actually stop to fully listen to it. It sounded a bit boring.

Need to see gameplay before I will make any decision but so far all I'm seeing is a combat premise, which was only one tiny element of the STAR TREK universe.

If it is just about fighting/battles with nothing given over to exploration etc.. I will be very saddened.

So its STO without ground combat?

Heck, I might still be playing STO if they hadn't put in the ground combat. Cryptic asks for feedback but just doesn't listen.

@Scarecrowe Season 4 is coming to STO soon, updating Ground Combat to make it more awesome (and from what I have seen of it so far, it will be everything it should have been)

*Grin*

"Action-tactic" heheh.........amazing what these programmers come up with.

So in summary what we actually have is an arcade style browser space shooter like the bsg browser arcade shooter and a microtransaction shop.

i already see suicide runs as a primary "tactic" (snicker, silly devs)
