There's a new Ask Cryptic in town, and this month's Star Trek Online update finds producer Dan Stahl fielding a plethora of community questions that cover a wide range of topics.
While many of the questions (and answers) are straightforward one-liners, Stahl does go into a bit of detail about STO's Foundry functionality. He mentions that the content creation tool will be getting a round of bug fixes as well as new map hookups (including Star Fleet Academy) for the library. Stahl also says that Cryptic's Foundry team is currently hard at work on Neverwinter's player-generated content toolset, and the fruits of its labor will eventually be seen in STO as well.
"One thing I continue to stress is adding the ability for more acting and blocking features so that players can create their own dramatic scenes," Stahl explains. Head to the official STO website for the full text.

If there is a specific Foundry team, they should be hard at work getting the Foundry into Champions-Online - nevermind bloody Neverwinter which hasn't even launched yet.

I don't think its as much of a hint as it is blatantly revealing. Makes you wonder if they wanted to develop it for STO in the first place, and instead just use STO as a large "beta" testing ground for it to be used in Neverwinter.

NWN had content modding tools in the old games. Is good to see
that they are adding this to the game as well.
I played around with the Foundry in STO, the learning curve is mild except for the heavily involved missions.
I'm looking forward to see what Cryptic does with this franchise.

I love were he says they dont make KDF stuff like cloth in the C store because they dont sell enough, GUESS WHAT cryptic HAVE NOT MADE 1 KDF UNIFORM TO PUT IN THE C STORE AND THE FEDS HAVE NOW OVER 20. This is one of the 20 reasons we all left that game. GREEDY BASTARDS.

A stripped-down Cryptic version of this IP will not appeal to the serious players that will make the efforts to be builders. Even if the remaining 34% of fundamental 4th ed D&D classes and features are added later for extra $, it will grate on the nerves of serious players that they weren't in the game in the first place. Why would you leave bards, druids, and paladins out of a D&D game? Maybe because you don't have alignment as a feature either? Whatever.

The sad thing with this game is that they are making "just another MMO". That they are going to use heavy functionality in the new game in one of their older games says pretty much. This is pretty much a proof that also this game will follow the cookie cutter MMO style.
