"I don't think they'll be getting those 600,000 people back as quick as they did from Aion, Conan, Warhammer and the like."

Ah, but you agree with Activision that they will eventually be getting them back.

Absolutely, the people are leaving Rift at a fast pace.

1 million sold is a nice number, didn't Warhammer do that in the opening month instead of taking 3 months? We saw how warhammer turned out and we know Rift is headed the same way.

Let the down rating commence Rift fans. You do it to everyone who doesn't agree with you that Rift is uberawesomesauce.

I love the down rates people give out on this site for anything even slightly negative to RIFT.

I will agree that you can't base the quality and accuracy of an opinion on the comment grading system, because the mechanics of it tend to be highly subjective and open to abuse...

...but in this case, you guys are not presenting any evidence contrary to the claim Trion is making or supporting your claims that RIFT is dying. It smells more like wishful thinking at best and plain old trolling on average. So it's likely the downgrades are justified.

Wow. Trion is is trolling Blizzard hard. Loving every second of it. I don't play their game because its not my style but I applaud them on releasing a solid product that players could enjoy on day 1. Hopefully other companies will imitate this.

"That comment is paraphrased, but after I saw that I got a tad worried lol..like you will never see that comment from GW2 even if they know it sucks...once you buy the box they can really give a damn less if you leave"

That's pretty silly. Dissatisfied people who buy the game and then drop it won't be paying for future expansions, cash shop items, merchandise, ect. They won't be telling their friends to give it a try. They won't be blogging about it or leaving comments that favor it. You can be damned sure ArenaNet cares if people leave the game once they've bought the box.

I'm not sure I would use the words "trolling Blizzard", but rather getting one back on Morhaime's unwise claim. :)

Trion should celebrate Rift's successful bow, but if they want to keep those gamers, they better announce new content and soon. I play WoW and Rift, and am one of those players ready to cancel Rift until I see what the first expansion holds.

I don't care about end game raids or pvp. My issues are the small size of the world, the copy/paste feel from going from one zone to another, the outdated quest model ('Good. You've completed the 3 quests I gave you. Now go back to that exact same area and do these 4 other quests"), and thin lore and story telling. I enjoyed it at the beginning, but it's getting dull to me. Of course other opinions may differ. It's all good.

@(Unverified) I bet you haven't even killed Lord Greenscale (Tier 1 raid) as of yet.

The 1.1 patch introduced the "River of Souls" raid by way of a lengthy 3-week pre-event. 1.2 patch added what is known as "slivers", which basically is what will become the new 10-man raiding progression (whereas Greenscale and Alsbeth are 20-man raids).

Please troll moar, seeing as they are constantly adding content to the game.

I'm not trolling. If you read my post, you would understand I don't care about raids. I'm talking about the game world itself. Learn to read, troll.

I'll be honest. I'm not in the least bit interested in seeing news on an expansion yet. One of the worst things about Blizzard was the fact that they'd announce an expansion two years before they'd even begin considering a release date. I'd rather hear about a game/expansion 6-8 months before it is ready for release then have it become old hat before it ever launches. You know, not a single person I know (IRL or in my guild) was excited about the launch of Cataclysm? We all played it, don't get me wrong, but none of us were excited about it the way we were and have been with Rift.

As to your specific request for more single player content? I'm all for it. I'd love to see some more zones added. But I wonder, have you really explored all of the single player content in game already? The lore is far from thin for a new game. You've collected and read all of the tomes? Talked to all of the NPCs and learned their histories? Completed all of the puzzles and found all of the cairns? Completed all of the quests that can only be taken upon finding certain rare mobs or triggering certain events? Searched every nook and cranny of every zone and fought and crawled your way to nearly impossible to reach locations to find and collect all of the rare artifacts?

Or did you simply go from quest hub to quest hub and follow the linear path put in for players who don't want to do any exploration on their own?

It's possible you did everything I asked about. It's highly unlikely, but it's possible. If so, then I have trouble believing you feel that WoW has more to offer solo players than Rift does, but, as you said, everyone has their own opinion. =)

@Meurik Heh, your reply makes you look like you're the one who's trolling since you didn't bother to read his post entirely before frantically hitting Reply.

I will add, because the way Blizz has comparmentalized their quest zones in WoW...it's been made much more discouraging to explore from a solo'ing perspective. Sure there's a little more story now...but I can't help but think it's in aid to power level my character rather then give it an enriching experience.

But Meurik was not trolling. I am not sure what the issue is.

"You can do some math... we know very well where those 600,000 people are."

Yeah they are tired of playing WoW and need a break from the fantasy MMO market. Like myself, taking a long break from WoW, have jumped into something more Sci Fi, like EVE. Rift may be a good game, but to say that all 600,000 people left WoW went to Rift is a stretch. LOL Trion you still have 11 million to go.

No way I'm eating this shizit! Trion, hah.

Honestly, though. WOW didn't not have 300K at this point in their life. I think Rift has a lot of potential to grow.

I prefer the free version of EQ2 over either game. I don't like subscriptions anymore.

Rift released on March 1st 2011, its been out for 4 months, and they are just now getting to 1 mil subs. World of Warcraft was released in November 2004, by Jan. 2005 they had 1.5 mil subs; That's only 2 months. Since then their exponential growth has been close to 1.5 mil subs a year. Like I said, Rift still has a long way to go to get to 11 mil subs.

Guess it's a surprise to you, but there are a slew of mature an interesting people that play World of Warcraft, and EvE is as simple as playing Anarchy Online. I thought it would have been a hard game to get into from all the "learning curve" talk, but it's actually a very easy game to understand.

@Bladerunner83 They said that they got "1 million SOLD copies" it doesn't mean they have atm 1 million ACTIVE accounts. Really ppl, L2READ, same then all start to cheer that they got 1kk (or how many it was) REGISTERED ACCOUNTS for beta/pre-realise, but it still doesn't mean how many ACTIVE ACCOUNTS they have ;)
