Did he say leveling by pvp would be a poor choice?

That might be a deal breaker for me...

No release date, no 2011 for SWTOR.

@Tristaniuss Yes because E3 is the only major convention they COULD possibly announce the release date. Please gtfo.

I'm with Adam Sessler. If they're that close to a release like they claim, they could announce a release date. The fact that they haven't means something could be amiss.

@Tristaniuss

Programming and bug-hunting are hard to put an exact date on. You want to give yourself a little lee-way just in case something comes crashing down.

Really, we are entering June and we have about 7 months until their vague statement that it will be released in 2011 comes true. That's NOT that long a time. We have financial statements that state it will be released in the latter part of 2011.

And while something really bad and unexpected could happen to delay release, it doesn't look like it will go beyond Jan-Mar. 2012. Really, even in the video beta leaks and the E3-older-build stuff we are seeing now, the game's basics look perfectly fine and just needs a bit of tweaking in many spots.

@Tristaniuss if you payyed attention near the end he said "We actually we're planning on giving release date info at E3 but Scott thought it would be funnier if we didn't." and also that they are on scheduale for a 2011 release, it makes me think more that they are still trying to narrow it down for special edition packs, and get a feel for how many copies they will need to make readily available for the retail launch, maybe even narrowing down the month... this is bioware they're mostly adding polish now as they decide when they want to drop it.

@BigNastey The graphics were dialed down quite a bit to accommodate the live stream, no shadows or other elements were turned on.

@BigNastey
I was at E3 . . . the graphics are MUCH better in the hands-on area. Like the video said, it was dialed down for live stream.

There were shadows, flowing robe armor, layered metal armor, lightsabers connected with melee weapons, lightsabers deflected lasers, lighting, ect. It looked amazing.

Art style, on the other hand, is separate from graphics. The art style will not change, but the graphics for this style were very good.

Can you change the colors of the menu system in game? That blue will just kill my eyes, so I will not be able to play.

You can't only level doing PVP. There are some gating quests that you'll need to do for your class advancement. But he did say that you could gain XP from PVP and also go up levels, you just can't only do PVP to do it.

I'm usually all about some pvp leveling, but why in the world would you want to completely skip the storylines in a game so heavily ABOUT the story? Even if it's an alt, many thing will be different on different classes. If that's how i felt, i think i'd be looking at other games.

@Resurge Some people like me couldn't care less and only want to kill other players. Mythic did this in WAR and it surprises me it wont be "viable" in SWTOR since Mythic is helping them with it.

Play fps? I do, but mowing down swearing kids gets old after awhile.

Luckily for me, KOTOR was the only single player / PVE thing I've never been bored to death with. Killing scripted mobs/bosses that are designed to let you win is usually a major snorefest.
