I really, really hope this is not the only DMO content we will see out of E3 this year.

Static marines piling bullets into chaos-things that look like they've come straight from WAR, along with the news of only 2 factions and it essentially being "WAR, but more like WoW, but in SPACE!"?

I can honestly say, that between TOR, GW2, TSW, ArcheAge and WoD I really can't see this standing out or doing all that well. It just looks like something that should have really come out a year or so ago. But 2+ years in the future?

Unless something radically changes, I don't think I'll be batting an eyelid at this one.

@Dril

Unless something radically changes? Like what? We barely know anything about the game! The two factions is bad news, but thats really all we have to go on for concrete details.

Anyway, I sure hope it's good, but it's too early to tell. A lot of bad and/or unfinished MMOs have been made in recent memory.

@Dril 2 factions doesnt necessarily have to be bad, just like 3 or more factions isnt a ticket to heaven. it all will boil down to the game mechanics. which we still dont know jack about yet....

@jealouspirate

Unless something radically changes...from what I described right there in the comment.

Like WoW, 2 factions and marines just standing there shooting demons, although it's not much, doesn't really make an attractive prospect. So, as I said, if something radically changes and alters that perception then I might be more interested in it. As it stands, it's not a particularly attractive proposition.

I hope they release a gameplay trailer. I am creamin' over this game, and just a teaser out of E3 isn't going to cut it!

I can't wait to see what they do with this.

WH40K is one of the coolest IPs of all time. They'd better not fuck it up.

Limited to 2 factions already Fucked it up. While I'm not Warhammer junkie (I prefer WARMACHINE) There are over a dozen "factions" in the Warhammer 40K universe. having only 2 of them playable is a poor choice no matter how you look at it. Not to mention they apparently DIDN'T learn the lesson WAR did...TWO FACTION + OPEN PVP = FAIL. it's impossible to balance populations enough to make it trully compelling and engaging without investing a large amount of manpower solely to population trend monitoring. Without a third (At least) faction to add a bit of uncertainty into the mix one said will invariably dominate the other. There are no ways around this problem with 2 faction PvP. At least none that I've seen.

On top of that the Lore will be butchered as well due to the faction limitation. The minute a Space Marine has to accept a quest from an Eldar you might as well slap an elf in there and just call it WoW with gunz n spaceships PEW PEW PEW!!

@Skyydragonn

It takes a lot more than the arbitrary number of factions to fuck up an MMO. While I'd like a game with more than 2 factions myself, it's just not that big a deal. Seriously.

@Skyydragonn

first, noone knows if the game is unrestricted open PvP, so there goes your theory.

second, there are plenty safe ways for a 2 faction game to play fine...BG based, player limits on active warzones, balancing mechanics like NPC aid, boosts/penalties based on number difference...

if a game adds certain mechanics, sheer numbers matter little or nothing at all, or even better, having numbers is actually counterproductive so people actively REFUSE to stack a faction...

just because WAR had NONE of this and was purely a finantial suicide, doesnt mean this game will lack 'em too...

This one will be a ways away. Probably in pre-alpha sandbox stage still. Guessing that's one of the only rooms they've built so far. Needs quite a few more initial design passes before it will start to look like anything that it will end up being at release.

Really, this is scant information at best.

Bleh.

I need to put this game out of mind until at least open beta, if not a month after launch.

As far as in game substances, not much, but then it's a teaser, not a trailer or a gameplay video.

Well there's one small interesting tidbit there: A new Massively multiplayer online ACTION experience.
Does this mean it will be a shooter with dynamic targeting?

But from what I have seen from this game it will be a disapointment lumping the wide variety of factions of 40K in a pathetic two faction game.

Help please.

The imperium of man trailer and the very frist one they put out shows more than this does..

@Gaugamela
I read some where and I thought it was here but I don't recall. One of the producer said that it is going to be an action MMO not skill based one. They also said there will be no non-combat classes.

Faction=/= playable races from what I understand from that interview. Age of reckoning had 2 "factions" but 6 playable races.

So Eldar Exiles and the Imperium of man Vs. Orks and Chaos? (random speculation)
