E3 2011: Trion updates official Defiance site with teaser trailer

We've known that Defiance would be getting its first serious showing this year at E3, but it looks like the team at Trion Worlds couldn't wait quite that long to show the fans the interesting stuff just around the corner. The official site has already been updated with a brand-new teaser trailer showing off the barest glimpse of what players will be able to expect... and judging by the ruined landscape within the trailer, we can report that this looks to be a very different post-apocalyptic take than other offerings in the genre.

E3 will also see more information about the corresponding television series, which will be written be Rockne S. O'Bannnon of seaQuest DSV and Farscape fame. Billed not only as the first fully persistent online shooter but the first time that a game and a television show will be co-existing at the same time, Defiance could prove an interesting look at what can be done with MMOs.

I lost all interest in Dust 514, a game I followed for 2 years, and gained a ton in Defiance all in the span of about 3 hours (a game I've followed for like 2 weeks).

If and I do mean if they say they going to have one server for all the system that will be use on this, and works very well (which is very important both game and show) then yea I am all for it

How in hell do I get "verified......."

Looks like Trion is putting their streaming technology to good use, now the question is if it will be target-less as I don't want to assume that "FPS" equals that in their minds (though I can't picture how one could call a game FPS and have it targeted). However I always thought the system they used could really move the tech forward. Either way they title now has my attention were it once did not.

The DUST announcement below is complete and total lackluster but this:

Well, now I know which "MMOFPS" I'll be waiting for

Way to ignore previous video game history, SyFy and Trion.

I'll probably won't be watching this, but only cause I don't care to spend it on overpriced Cable. Maybe some Youtube leaks...

...but as usual, I'll keep an eye out and see if the gameplay is there and fun.

I havn't seen anywhere that says Defiance will be a Firs Person Shooter. By shooter they could mean just about anything. Who is saying that it is the first-ever open-world shooter MMO? Maybe the first open-world shooter of it's kind, but not the first. Don't forget about WWII online, Planetside/Planetside (NEXT).

That many take to heart and as truth and don't treat it like PR stuff.

From politics to medicine to games, maybe you ignore it, but others accept it. I know I don't like getting lied to or misled in a sneaky fashion.

Look at it this way: We still haven't seen any in-game video. XBox is probably different servers from PS3 and those servers can't play with PC users. (I know, not that big a deal.) The game could be great or it could suck. I can't say and you can't either.

But to basically claim you are the first or greatest and ignore all others, while its standard, kinda says something shady. You could dismiss it, but already lots of posts touting it with little evidence of game play: And, I admit, if I like the game, I'll be the first to play. But if not...PR can be a useless thing to hype people up.

Hmmm..ok, this game is Win.
