Really shocked Funcom isn't going to be at E3 this year.....and from what I have heard you won't see TSW until the end of next year at the earliest.

It concerning that MMO developers are so gun shy that everything is being pushed back. Maybe we will get TOR this year but I am beginning to highy doubt that as well.

Guess all we will get out of E3 this year is the next round of lame console titles.

@Dunraven Unless something wierd happens SWTOR will be this year b/c EA has already published the release and included it in its projections for 4th quarter ... not that that stuff can't change - but it would really, really make the stockholders and stock market frown if it did.

Seems like an odd decision not to show anything at E3.

No Show at E3 means to me that they must be a looooong way out on this one ... which is fine I guess ... as long as it is RIGHT when it does come out ... Get it right at launch! That's seems be be 90% of the key these days.

Atmospheric, creepy, and cool. I likes it. :-)

Way to go, Funcom.

No Show at E3 does not mean 'long way out' anymore. After the 2007 restructuring debacle screwed over a lot of companies, a lot of companies have started moving away from E3 and going to PAX instead. Also, the European market has been more important as of late so the games conventions there are getting more love. E3 is quickly being left behind, at least by the MMO industry, with Blizzard having divorced themselves entirely first, a while back, to make their own convention, and many of the other MMO developers shuffling over to Pax to get their games seen by actual players.

Not showing up at E3 is no longer the doom and gloom it once was.

SWTOR and TSW are likely Q4'11 or Q1'12 and will likely be released around christmas. TSW just went beta and is playable. TOR has been playable for a while and has been in beta for a while.

@Figure
If it's in beta, they're being real sneaky and secretive about it.

I would not expect this game ready until 2012.

Perhaps someone should follow -this- site more closely.
http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/03/10/gdc-2011-funcom-talks-the-secret-worlds-pve-pvp-and-arg/ (key quote: "beta is coming in 2 months hence" then there's the confirmation here:
http://www.newsweb.no/newsweb/search.do?messageId=283553
From Funcom's Q1 Quarterly Report.
"The Secret World reached a major milestone in May, as planned, as the game entered the phase of limited external beta testing"

The original ARG puzzles were in fact a beta signup as the original forum from back in '07 put people on an email list to get updates from 'a friend' on furthering the ARG conspiracy puzzles. All of the forum signups required participants to enter their email addys.

The current 'secret society quiz' also serves as a beta signup and says as much.

I wouldn't say they are so much 'secretive and sneaky' as I'd say people simply aren't paying attention enough.

q4 of this year or q1 of next year. Unlikely before, and somewhat unlikely after.

Wow...

And with a single update this game went to the top of my "MMOs to watch list". Brilliant zone concept, clowns are scary.

No E3 = if this gets released less than a year from now, run away.

@BGExorcist

Guess WoW should just pack it in then, yea? I mean.. WoW hasn't been at E3 since '06.

Bungie, makers of Halo, not attending E3.
Valve also not attending E3.
Rockstar is not attending E3.
The list goes on and grows every year.

Like I said in an earlier post, E3 is not the end all, be all of video games anymore. Attendance is no longer mandatory.

WoW has blizzcon. Bungie has halo 4, which was shown. Dont know about the others, probably nothing to show yet. But a company that releases hype and screens, with no actual gameplay, ad releases a few months after, mmm naah thanks (especially funcom - you heard how good AoC is in people's eyes)

The desciption of the new area sounds great and that drawing looks nice. Some actual screenshots or a in-game video would have been nicer.
