The monthly price attempt may have had alot to do with it too. Korean's dont typically pay per month, and switching to that price model certainly didnt help its case.

Its also bot infested, hack friendly, and zero end game at release.

Which is sad really.. it was a innovative title in a sea of "Me2" Wow wanna-be's.

Hopefully they'll turn it around and it will do well in EU/NA.

They're probably trying to use GameGuard in Korea, though i'm not sure about that...

Flame on, but i think PunkBuster would be a far more appropriate choice for this game if they even have an anti-cheat at all.

@ChromeBallz

By just how many gold spammers, hackers and bots the korean servers have, I'd say they probably just did some sort of weird Buddhism anti-evil-spirit ritual in the server room and left it at that....

@Acina That's exactly my point. Say what you will, but PunkBuster actually works to a certain degree :)

I called this 1... this game is Aion 2.0 but plays like Vindictus.

This game is a guaranteed fail in the west if it cant even keep its usual Asian grindfest lovers.

Correction:

This game is like STO, but plays like Aion with Vindictus combat....

Doesn't bode well for this game. Was hoping it would do well because it really does look pretty.

Although, just because the Asian world doesn't like it doesn't mean us Westerners won't. Most of the time we hate their games anyway so who knows.

Is this a first ? Game dying before it even gets to the western market.

Things like Aion might not be doing so well in the west but it got a nice following in asia.

I actually had the same mindset. Look at most of the Western MMOs that are successful that are not popular in Korea due to being "too easy". Even the golden game WoW isn't truly "popular" as much as it is a "treasure chest for gold farmers".

Despite the lack of end-game content (which is rumored to be fixed before NA launch) this kinda has the opposite effect for me: I believe it'll have more success in NA than Korea, just like the previously mentioned "successful" games.

Folks down south call this kind of thing A dog that wont hunt. I prefer the saying "dead out of the gate".

Maybe I am totally wrong but I was under the impression that Tera's combat system is similar to the old Tabula Rasa system. Tabula Rasa had some targeting elements but overall it was point and shoot. This combat system is such a turn off, at least to me, and I can't imagine what a pain it would be to heal someone, or even buff them. This information doesn't bode well; A game built on grinding, fails in its native lands ... lands well known for gold farming. Ironically it is the best looking MMO to come out of Korea since, when? It was the AAA game that was supposed to break the barrier between the western and eastern market. Good thing we still have WoW and Rift to fill our fantasy bellies.

So BHS had to steal source code to come up with an MMO that attracts enough people for 15 servers? Don't overachieve or anything.
