Ready for some more ArcheAge CBT3 impressions? If so, AAportal has your hookup in the form of a new article that examines the recently concluded beta event. While Massively poked around the world of ArcheAge in wide-eyed newb wonder last week, AAportal had been there before, and its new posting compares the team's impressions of CBT3 with the earlier CBT2 event.
In addition to investigating interface, character customization, and world changes, AAportal notes that it was able to send a full team of level 20 characters delving into the deeps of one of ArcheAge's dungeons. Explorers will be pleased to know that the dungeon was a labyrinthine experience that left the adventurers unsure as to whether or not they'd managed to see it all.
Also on the discussion table is world PvP, and here AAportal reports that player skill trumps zergs quite handily. The game's physics apparently play a big role as well, and the article illustrates the differences between a knock-back ability in World of Warcraft (which happens the same way every time regardless of terrain) and an ArcheAge knock-back that is affected by the character's surroundings. Finally, the article concludes that ArcheAge is not a very solo-friendly game as it currently stands, with coordinated groups required for premium content like ship battles and dungeons runs. Check out all the details at AAportal.net.

It's still Beta.
Still time to iron out thinks for the solo-experience.
I'd like to learn more on the Devs' goals for the game.

@Seffrid I must contradict their article a little, I played as a Ferres for the whole CBT whereas the rest of my guild that had access played Nuian or Elf with the guys from AAPortal, I had absolutely not problem soloing all the content that I saw, I built my own house (it did take a little longer than the BOON/AAPortal group) and cleared all the quest up to level 20, as well as exploring and cultivating the land etc.
Granted there are group instances, but there is no need to be a member of a group to do PvP or Naval PvP - in fact just about anyone can get on your boat and join in the fun (whether they're in your group or not, as I joined the BOON/AAPortal group on their boat for a spot of sight seeing).

It's still a carebear game. That's kind of the point. They're doing both.

We did not say that grinding is hard in Archeage. It's harder than in most mmorpgs, but mobs wont eat you alive. :)
However i died a lot while lvling myself to 20 lvl. So i was unable to kill 3 mobs with mage and ranger classes, if they already aggroed at me.
But there was nothing good player could not handle solo, if we're talking about grind.
And you definitely could not build a ship solo, cause there was too much things to gather and refine (you still could build your house solo, but do not forget, that rates was decreased for CBT 3 and the houses we built on this CBT were the crappiest type of house in game).
Just to count things: the character (we do not count a twinks, cause there was a bug on beta and twinks had their own lp) could have only 600-700 lp during the beta test. To construct a house you need 200 wood, 200 stone and about 50 lp to build it. You spend 3 lp to gather wood / stone, and gaining about 2-3 stone / wood per try. So one character will need about 330 lp to build a house. So maximum, that solo character could mkae on 3rd CBT is 2 crappy houses. And that's with decreased rates.
P.S> Sorry for my english.

"labyrinthine experience "

So, the sandpark is not only giving me a fairly sweet glimmer of hope for the sandbox section, but it's also providing me with what I've been looking for in a themepark since WotLK shipped?
Oh my.
I must go hug these devs, even if I have to fly to Korea.

Game themepark elements require coordination.
For one there is NO TANK CLASS. Taking down bosses is more focused on devising a strategy and teamwork than on one person taking hits while other people pew pew it.
For second dungeons require you to think. There are traps, alternate passages and various decisions your group needs to make there.
as for the whole "omg not solo friendly" - the review meant the sandboxy BIG features. YOu can't sail the ship alone, you can't really build a village out of one house and you certainly won't participate in the whole political hijinks, build castles or be the dictator alone.

Everything I hear about this game sounds awesome. Surely they'll find a way to screw this up, right?
Maybe an abusive cash shop, horrible Asian MMO grind, etc?
