i tired to closed beta test this game but i wasnt able to experience any of the content because the third mission i attempted was too glitched, and the choppiness due to lag made it unbearable.

I eta tested it just fine. It's a fun game. I'm looking forward to seeing what improvements they made since beta.

This looks to be a clone of Eve Online. They better bring their A game to even come close.

@smappy

EVE is bad, and BP is not even close to being its clone. if anything, it's a Freelancer clone...a bad one at that.

Really? and here I thought it was a WoW clone.

If you like EvE you probably won't be too fond of Black Prophecy. Where EvE handles its battles point and click, BP is more space FPS.

I played EvE and it was fun until it got boring.
I played BP and it was also fun until it got boring.

So I guess in that aspect, yeah its a clone.

Given more time I probably would have gotten back into enjoying either game. As they were both decent in their own rights.

@smappy

... and Eve is obviously a Jumpgate Classic Clone...

It could be a good game, but I think the content change from the story based intro to the open world faction play is too sudden. The floating reticule is also something that folks testing with me were not happy with.

I very much look forward to getting into the game and seeing what it has to offer. I have played eve since 04 and still very much enjoy the game. CCP is an amazing company. It will be interesting to see what these guys offer up.

They're all Elite clones anyway.

How about they start by testing an account system that isn't utterly abysmal. I don't know how it's possible to over complicate something so basic to the point where it doesn't even work half the time.

Giving that dead horse another good whack, as most have pointed out, nothing new, and definately nothing to compete with EVE. If your going to stress test the us servers bring a box of rubber bands and play with them, it will be more entertaining.

If it was an Elite or Freelancer clone I'd be playing it right now. It's neither of those, unfortunately. And to say "Well, it's beta. Give it time" doesn't say much since the game's been officially out and on sale in Europe for months now.

Comparing Eve to Black Prophecy is pointless, two different styles of gameplay, completely different PVE and PVP setups as well as leveling and skill structure. I have played EvE since 2004 and I have also played the European Client of BP. Is it fun? Yes BP is fun, is it a game that I will invest my time more then so I would in EvE? Hardly. To each his own, its fun to play a couple of streches here and there but in the end it doesnt hold my attention like EvE does but if it works out for you then more power to you.

I do get tired of the constant apples to oranges comparison between Eve and BP. They are both set in space and involve space ships. Comparison ends there.
