I'll definitely check out the trial when the site comes back up.

@gerB

The game is currently updating to version 2.5 and the servers should be back up by about noon PT with the website following shortly behind!

Horray for a nice free trial system! Get in and check it out. Aion's come a LONG way since it's launch in NA, so use this opportunity to draw your own conclusions instead of listening to the naysayers out there who comment on every single Aion article.

10 days is not a good trial period period anymore. With AAA games switching to hybrid models, its going to become harder for full sub games to compete.

@Yellowdancer

10 Days should be plenty of time for a player to decide if they like the game or not. they've needed a free trial system for some time now, so this is very good news for Aion and their community. Hopefully NCsoft will also have safeguards in place to deal to deal with the increased spammers that always come along with free trials.

@Yellowdancer Cut them some slack mate. They put out a 10 day free trial and do reactivation weeks every other big update which for some crazy reason almost no other company has thought of and here you are, complaining because few AAA (barely) titles turned to a F2P model which roughly lets you make a step forward without actually touching your wallet, something I would rather call a glorified trial.

Previously, the only way I could find to try out this game is to play on a unofficial server, which is hardly optimum for a lot of reasons. I will be trying this game again. I've always been interested in it. I know there are a lot of problems with end game pvp, but I would still like to test the waters.

Glad to see NC finally put out a real trial. I keep QQing about the fact that the existing one was as restrictive as it was. This is definitely a great time for people to come and check out Aion. Feel free to roll up an Asmodian on the Israphel server, we've got a nice community there ;)

Almost forgot - seems like Asmo-Israphel is the place to be for anyone interested in RP.

In addition to the free trial and 2.5 update, NCsoft also introduced a Faction Incentive Program to help the population balance. If you roll the specified race on one of these servers, you will get 50 consumable amulets that raise your hunting XP by 50% for an hour each.

Plus they just revamped the Adventurer's Guide to offer more and better rewards just for leveling up. Some really great stuff happening in Aion right now.

Is this still a PvP focused game, and is end game still solely about PvP or has it now got more PvE/dungeons/raids?

Got back into the game a few weeks ago, after having played beta and for a month after launch. The changes they have made are simply amazing. The grind that was required between zones is gone, and I have more quests than I know what to do with now. Also, the solo instances are damn fun. Been having a blast since I came back. Go Asmo on Ziekel!

@Puremallace

Fixed, or do you mean changed? I understand the gripes with Asmodian vs. Elyos. But when I hear about people talking about stuff like this, it makes me question. Do you mean you want them to change the game design, or are there bugs? Fixed implies bugs. If it is game design, then good luck, you should just move on to a new game.

Also, I don't know if ANY trial lets you experience end game content. That is not really what a "trial" is about. That's a free ride. Even games with unlimited trials will not let you experience end game.

Interested in the graphical and character creation updates.
Haven't been on Aion in a while, may make a dummy trial account and see what's up.

If they had free trials to begin with like every other MMO out there I maybe would have gotten into this game.

I'll still try it out when they finally put up the landing page for the 10 day trial tomorrow - but I doubt I'll stick around the game having already been out so long.

Anyhow, nice try Aion - we know your reading this / marketing here.
