The Game Archaeologist should do a series of these for Star Wars Galaxies.

Player made events

One of the things I loved most about MXO was how it was impossible to tell who was an official event character and who was a player character playing an event that is sanctioned by their faction because everyone was taking it that seriously. There we so many dedicated roleplayers in the game who were in-character all the time, with more characters being created just for the sake of successful events, it was all a blur of fun and storytelling.

I remember an event that we organized as the machine faction Tetragrammaton, with videos and forum posts and event characters appearing in the game weeks before the event, walking around and talking with the players... When it came to pass, there were hundreds of people there to participate, the way everyone took it seriously and showed up was simply stunning... Hope everyone had as much fun with it as we did.

"And how will it be remembered many years from now"

I only just remembered this title from seeing this article and was flooded with a ton of unpleasant and horrible memories on how bad this game was. I wish I could forget seeing this and never think of it again for the remainder of my life!

MxO was its community. No matter how disappointing the game and its fate turned out to be, the community outdid itself till the very end. So regretting not logging in for the last month, but I just had too much going on then.

Compliance is mandatory.
RIP MxO

MxO was one of the best gaming communities I've ever been a part of. It was also my first MMO and holds a special place in my heart because of that.

The most of the fun for me came from the player driven events and from the LESIG events I got to be apart of. Most of my play time was on Iterator/Recursion, where when I was Zion would harass the Machinists and Meros and dancing naked on top of Mara Church. The live events were awesome, especially the hunt for the assassin where I was the one who slapped him.

The LESIG events were fun when someone wasn't leaking information out. On Recursion we had a big event planned and someone who had access to the board but didn't say anything let everything out of the bag. We found out less then 24 hours before the event and Rarebit took up the reins, modified it and it ran beautifully. The liasions was another great part of the game for me. It took me out of comfort zone and put me on Syntax where I got to be the Zion Liason after the previous one succumb to the "Smith Virus", a totally player created thing that the LESIG handlers didnt know about, but ran with anyway.

(litte treat for you all, rembr Monday Night Fight Club? heres the 2008 All Star Finale - for da 'championship of champions' OmegaO vs Koenh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONXXmnPpI5k I remember some of us doing "Machinema' before we even heard of the word "Machinema". Those were the days! Cloudwolf has some legendary stuff. The "News Teams" was a total riot! I also have Rarebits Goodbye Party on tape somewhere too, one of the rare times WE did the hosting n arranging n recording instead of Rarebit, ironically for Rarebit. i shuld look for that. And it was an honor to help with most ANY event and running the Fansite Radio station known as CatziRadio.
