I know its not an MMO but i'm going to have to go with Team Fortress 2.

In the age of hyper realistic military shooters, its nice to see a big company go out on a limb, try something really different and not only succeed but set a new standard.

Also, i've been loving Terraria lately and its using an older, pixilated style. Definitely part of its undeniable charm.

@Bartlebe

Especially with a class-based shooter. TF2's art style allowed Valve to give iconic and instantly recognizable outlines to each class so you know who you're up against without even thinking about it.

I love how CO has taken some classic comic book style and worked it into the game. As far as non-mmos go I love the style of boarderlands

Simply put, The Chronicles of Spellborn and Ryzom have the best, most original and the most neato frito graphics of any game, ever, in history. Yes, they are a little dated now (and one is dead) but I much prefer stylized over realistic.

@Beau Hindman Hey I challenge "neato frito " lol. I never got to play Chronicles of Spellborn. I wish I had. You have made me regret not getting in on that one by how you talk about it. Maybe someone down the road will pick the game up. Hope you are doing well Beau!

@Ryn Yeh here's a video of it I made before I worked here at Massively. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ohYsk6rBoE It really shows how cool and original the game was.

Gawl, now I'm going to cry. (Thanks for asking, I'm doing good! :) )

I enjoy WoW's art style, it's aged pretty well in my opinion. It's smart to stylize graphics for an MMO considering the lifespan, and it often allows users with lower end computers to play.

I also enjoy more realistic graphics at times, such as Rift's.

There are a few games out there that do this very well, and I think they go with this style because it ages well while also opening the game to people with a lower end computer. Allods, CO, STO, GW and WOW stepped it up with the recent expansion and DX11 support. All these really pop on a high end system. Some may say these games look "Cartoony" as I have heard from some that play games with more realistic graphics, ala EVE Online. And I do appreciate both styles. Developers go with what they do for various reasons. I find I like both styles.

Then there is LOTRO, which I think is going for a mix of the 2 styles, and looks great except IMO the character models.

Wind Waker (and the DS follow ups),definitely. But my all time favorite was Tron 2.0.

I love the cartoony look of WoW and Allods. I couldn't get into other more "realistic" games because it seemed kinda boring. I like big weapons and ridiculous spaulders.

I like WoW graphics. I generally find it holds up better despite being really old (in some cases, like character models that have yet to be updated). And the fact that it doesn't try to look realistic does make it so that mistakes in the way that characters move do not stand out as much. At least to me.

Allods look similar, but I haven't tried it.
